Quitting the gorilla on my back with the help of Mary Jane

  1. Happy frickin’ New Years everyone! I apologize if this is the wrong thread to post in, I just wasn’t sure where else to put it.

To make a long story short, I have a long and tumultuous relationship with opiates (prescribed and not prescribed). I live with my amazing girlfriend and another roommate, the roommate is sober and works a 12 step program.

My girlfriend and I have been having a little too much fun with some pills, and she finally called it quits for us at the start of the new year. Sadly, once that beast is awoken in me, it’s not as easy for me to just stop as it is for her.

After a long talk, we decided to get back into smoking weed in order to stay off the other stuff. I guess the reason for the post is just to hear some feedback from you guys, maybe a few of you have had similar experiences with using bud to stay off the hard stuff. Even a little support would be appreciated.

  2. @kRaC13

I feel your bone hurting pain - but if you actually want this thread to still be up at noon today, you NEED to go back and change the thread title AND your post to quitting cheddar cheese or small pieces of carpet or lump charcoal - because GrassCity has a strict “NO OTHER DRUG DISCUSSION” policy and it absolutely WILL be enforced.

Take a moment and just do it - folks will know what you’re referring to and your thread will be able to stay up Im guessing.

Cannabis will help but its still not going to be a picnic by a long shot. Best of luck.

    Change those words.

  4. If cannabis can help you stay off harmful drugs then I think that's great, but there's definitely some benefit to real sobreity and dealing with your issues. One of the main reasons people use drugs is to escape bad memories, experiences, and feelings. If you've got something that's holding your life back that you aren't dealing with then you need to deal with that. Sobreity will be easier if you're happier with your life.

I hope you find all that you're looking for and the new year is the best for you yet!

  5. Same problem here. I got out of the military after 20 years so I could get off the percs they had me on for three years. Jane helped me go cold turkey. The funny thing!...... No one frowned when I was high on percs all day, but smoke some Jane and everybody went nuts! O well, I’m happy and can function now.

  6. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and have constant pain, along with depression, PTSD, and I have anxiety. I was on Norco 10s, Percocet 10s for about 8 months before I recieved my medical marijuana card. Saved my life. Smoke daily. Make my own edibles. Etc.... down to just one pain pill a day before i get out of bed that my girlfriend gives me just so i can get up. Then nothing the rest of the day. I quit taking trazodone for sleep and Xanax for anxiety. You can do it bud! Im telling you. I don't know if you smoke a lot now but it took me a little bit of time of smoking for it to really start working. I'm saying I had to build a little bit of a tolerance up for it to really work into my body where it's always in high doses. Because when I started smoking again I haven't smoke it daily just a few times a year. I'm happy I don't have anxiety much more and it relieves my pain tremendously without abusing pills. My situation is different than yours but I can guarantee you if you can stick to a smoking schedule And look up micro dosing you can get up off them pills. Cannabis saves lives.

  7. Thanks for all the feedback. You guys pretty much summed it up, I let this spiral out of control so quickly, I’m really just looking for my life back. I knew people have done it countless times before, but it’s always better hearing about some firsthand experiences. Much appreciated homies

  9. Problem was u when u were having fun!! Wrong stuff to abuse!! I take them everyday. Along with weed! Luckily my pain clinic supports both. I watched my mom abuse them. So luckily I can sit on a shit load of them and only take what's needed. I am one of those that can quit things like ur gf. Luckily they treat me like aspirin and don't call me to bad. I mean don't get me wrong with my 5 or 6 hours is up I will need another one. I did catch myself a few times eating to to finish your golf round. Then I knew that that was wrong and after my surgery I no longer play golf although I could. You're doing the right thing. Especially if you have that addictive nature. now that you know you have a problem you need to get the help you need to stop using them. I wish you the best of luck!!

  10. There is a underground rehab in Michigan I saw on a TV show. The guy burries u with dabs and Rso. It has worked for some of those that couldn't quit on their own

  11. There’s a place down here in south Florida, not sure if I can post names but it’s a 28-day inpatient rehab that has medicinal marijuana for the clients use. Pretty wild stuff lol
