So I went cold turkey on cigs, I've been smoking them consistently only for about six months, and it has been pretty easy for the most part. But, ever since I stopped, my stomach has felt like shit all day everyday, bloating, runs, etc. I quit about 2 weeks ago, and all the stomach stuff has been stressing me a bunch so I bought a pack and just smoked again for the first time, and my stomach pains went away INSTANTLY. Anybody else have these stomach problems while trying to quit? Or know anyway to get them to not happen? I don't wanna keep smoking, but I'm going to if my stomach hurts like it did before I smoked again tonight.
no offense but if you're really serious about quitting don't expect no difficulty along the way man. yeah the stomach pains might be shit however you're defeating the purpose. each cigarette is total shit for your body
Yeah man, ik. I wasn't expecting it to be easy but I've never heard of people quitting and barley being able to eat or sit down or anything from not smoking. I guess I'll give quitting another go, if the stomach pains come back maybe my doctor will be able to do something?
Honestly? I got the flu for a month. When I was well enough to be able to breathe in smoke again the cravings had gone. It's the greatest feeling when you defeat an addiction.
QUIT NOW!!!!!! You're only 6 months in, you aren't far enough to make it all that difficult in comparison to what it will be! As far as the digestive system problems, nicotine is a stimulant and therefore increases peristalsis. An increased dependence would cause slower-than-normal peristalsis that is likely the cause of your problems. A simple laxative should do nicely, particularly a stimulant-based laxative such as caffeine or certain unmentionables (as it would increase peristalsis in a way similar to nicotine). But I can't stress enough quit fucking now! You don't recover from addiction, you only learn to live with it without the drug. The desire will never go away completely and the longer you wait, the stronger it will be. Take it from a pack-a-day smoker. Quit while it's still easy! One of these days you'll thank me for it.
That first part basically answered everything for me, thank you a whole bunch. But yeah, I'm definitely going to quit and smoke the good old herb instead.
I smoked for 30 years, quit cold turkey too. I never had any physical withdrawl symptoms. Mine was mental/emotional. Detoxed badly for 3 months. It was one of the worst expieriences I have had in my life. Made me quit forever. Lung cancer and emphysema are worse than stomach pains.
I quit cold turkey and had no side effects what so ever, i actually felt better. I have had a few since then though just to relieve stress. It's nice to know i can quit anytime. Although i did get a vapor pen so i'm still getting nicotene but i went 3 weeks without any. Sucks you're having bad effects from quitting. My cousin had dreams, cold sweats, shaking it was crazy.
I have the same problem when I try to quit. I get super sick to my stomach and feel like shit, almost like a cold or flu. My wife and I are still trying to quit. I had quit cold turkey 2 years ago with no trouble or side effects at all for 3 months. Then there was a death in the family and some other stuff goin on so I bought a pack. Only smoked 1-2 a day but it slowly built back up to a pack a day. Good luck OP. Let us know if you find anything that helps
Pack a day for 10 years here checking in. I quit just over 5 months ago. the pains I had......fuck I don't want to talk about them.! Lol You guys need to check out the thread called "a stoners guide to quitting nicotine" it's in the health section.. It helped me a TON! ! ! I put all the money I was spending in a jar each month in my quit date. It's up to $600 now...IN FIVE MONTHS. I put the jar where I can see it every day. One more thing and I know it's corny but it helped me. A saying, NOPE: Not One Puff Ever
i personally don't mind cigs. they are terrible for you, yes, but i like to enjoy life to the fullest. i recently bought a vaporizer for weed, so i figured id get an ecig as well. i started with the blu disposable ecigs (waste of money. says you get 400 puffs out of it. more like 50 at most). i plan on getting a reusuable ecig today. anyway... my point is, if you wanna quit smoking cigs, take a test run of an ecig. i haven't touched a normal cig in days now they are much healthier alternatives. i mean i haven't hacked up any tar or had any real bad coughs since i've tried ecigs. plus, ecigs typically only have like 5 ingredients compared to analogue cigs which have like over 4000 ingredients, half of which you can't even pronounce.
Had the same problem, it goes with the increased anxiety all your pains get worse. You're best bet is to go to a doctor and tell them everything that you've been experiencing even if you think its embarrassing or not related, it probably is related. They'll probably tell you to use some OTC medicine for an ulcer. Smoking puts you at increased risk for ulcer, I wouldn't doubt if you have one judging off the symptoms. Nicotine is pretty good at numbing your senses, all five of them actually. As somebody else has recommended check out "a stoners guide to quitting nicotine" in the health section, it will help you focus on the positive. Also keep in mind, when you are not a smoker, you can enjoy many other things in life that smokers can't. In my mind smoking = slavery, after 3-4 weeks off the cigs I had no cravings. They smell worse than shit to me now, I can't stand being around them. I had to change my friends and the one's I kept I convinced not to smoke it around me. HTH
