  1. Hey-
I recentley quit smoking cigs and i feel like complete shit becuase today i have what is commonoly called quiters flu. I was wondering if anybody knew how long this sickness should last and if anybody had any tips in general for the quitting process.

THANKS AND TAKE MY ADVICE DONT SMOKE CIGS

  2. Advice taken, but not heeded :D

Argh, I got to quit myself, and not looking forward to it. Smoking is stupid, downright unhealthy. Makes you smell like an ashtray and look like an idiot.

That said, all those reasons sort of fade away after about 24 hours of trying to stop...

I've been told though, that after some 3-5 days, the worst of it should be over with. There will always continue to be pangs of "I need a cigarette and I need it NOW!", but with time they are supposed to get less intense and less frequent.

Don't think I answered your question though. Just hang in there!

  3. I haven't heard it called smoker's flu, but, yeah, I know what you're talking about. usually last's a couple of weeks until the silia in your lungs grow back and can aid in cleaning out your lungs. the good news is it's supposed to take about half as long as you were smoking to clean your lungs up right.

quitting's easy zylark, I do it 40 times a day. :smoking:

  4. lol

    Only forty? :D

I did manage to go with only 2 cigarettes all day yesterday. But I did kinda' break down somewhere during the middle of the night, and buy myself 20 Luckies. I got one left now, some 12 hours later...

    Crap.

Work tomorrow, I should be able to make amends then. Let's see, one for breakfast, one for waiting on the bus, one after morning coffee, one after lunch, one after afternoon coffee, one after the ride home, one for dinner, any number doing whatever after that (double if it involves beer), and one before bed.

See, not bad at all?! :p

  5. hahahaha quitters flu, what a happy name for withdrawl.

  6. I believe it's in reference to coughing up flem, yummy, another great attribute to smoking tobacco. when a smoker quits, for a little while, it almost seems as if the coughing gets worse. I believe this has to do with previously closed air ways (from smoking) start to open as the healing process starts. these areas of your lungs are then able to bring up some old shit that's really pretty to look at, especially if you're nauscious. peace
