i just did a 12 oz run of trim and crushed nug. I filtered twice, the first filtration through silk it went through quickly as it’s important to filter as quick as possible...it came out beautiful amber gold. The second filtration was through fine Egyptian cotton 1200 thread count. It was so clear like a light apple juice consistency. There was some minor settling on the bottom of the jar after winterizing. This by far gave my best filtration result to date. Did the second run the same way came out pretty green, I ran it through a carbon filter and placed it in direct sunlight to remove some chlorophyll. It helped...a bit... Note to self: Wash second run shorter than first run for best results. I have the fan on the 2 trays if first run and will be using heat in the second run for edibles. Will post yield results
As promised the results are in - First run super cold 30 second wash yielded 8 g of pull n snap, it was amber glass that flew apart when I scraped it up. (Square Pyrex)[this was purged with just a fan in 24 hrs.]. I put it out in the sun to soften it up then it cleaned up off the Pyrex real nice. It turned brown as it stuck to the scalpel blade in concentration. I’m not worried about that, I know what it was. The second wash yielded 12 grams of some real tasty light brown honey. I used A rice cooker on keep warm setting to purge (Round Pyrex). This stuff was a bit softer and a bit messy when warm. I put it in the freezer then it scraped up easy...the bit of water as the result of condensation from when I removed it from the freezer helped to get the Pyrex right clean. A medical scalpel for scraping worked awesome as it was rounded and sharp and could clean corners and edges real well. (Have a few extra blades on hand.. the stuff is super hard out of the freezer and I broke 2 blades) In total 20g of high quality super clean concentrate ...Not bad for shake and trim. I’m pretty impressed with the filtration results from silk and Egyptian cotton! Remember...safety first and don’t it work indoors! Happy extracting. Helpful tip...Orange pumice hand cleaner like the mechanics use works like a charm to clean up hands, Pyrex and jars afterwards.
