Are you saying you have an indoor grow space with essentially unlimited height? If so then you certainly can grow a sativa, but you need to keep in mind that light intensity diminishes with the square of the distance, so an electric light shining on the top of a 10-foot plant will be delivering very little light to the lower branches, so you may want supplemental lighting on the sides.
Sativas can be but are not always a little more finicky than indicas. And not only do they need more light due to size, but many are from equatorial and other areas where they get tons of sunlight so they may not bud very well unless you have a lot of lumens. Some sativas will also not flower under a 12/12 light schedule. They need a longer dark period than normal. Really it depends on the genetics, most sativas can be grown indoors if you have the room and/or use techniques such as LST and topping/fimming.
