Quick question

  1. You know when you transplant and the plant is rootbound you can see all the roots going in circles at the bottom and sides.

Is that the case if a plant is rootbound in a fabric pot as well? Someone told me that you won't be able to see that in a fabric pot as the roots won't go the side walls as they can feel light through the fabric so they can still be root bound but we won't notice if we lift it up and check the sides and bottom for roots is that true or nah?

Reason I am asking is Ive got a plant in flowering(2nd week) in a 3 gal pot. I suspected its root bound because whatever I watered her it all just went through her and out at the bottom literally like it flew through the soil. Apparently thats what happens when a plant is root bound. But when I took it out of the 3 gal pot i couldn't see any roots at the bottom or sides that would tell me it actually is root bound so I am confused.

  2. Fabric pots are supposed to help prevent your plants from getting root bound, but that’s not a guarantee. You could probably dig for the roots from the bottom of the root ball when you have it out of the pot, that will give you an idea of what the roots are doing. If your soil was really dry, the water might have just run around the sides; sometimes it takes a couple of soaks to rewet really dry soil.
