I've searched various forums and looked through articles found on google, however, there didn't seem to be any consensus regarding when during the 24 hour day to feed your girls. Obviously, im referring to the flowering period of a plants life: Do you feed right before the lights come on? Or right before they go off? Or do you feed/water them in the middle of the 12 hour day? One point of view that somewhat seemed to make sense was that plants do most of their feeding during the day from the lights (photosynthesis) and they do most of their feeding from their pots/soil/medium at night because they don't have any light to help with feeding themselves. On the other hand, I thought that plants need their 12 hour dark period as a sort of dormant, sleep state or stasis; and therefore, would not want to necessarily be fed at that point. Lastly, some people seem to say it doesn't really matter when you feed them and to just do it when you get a chance to. By the way, I am asking in regards to feeding through the soil only. I already know that foliar feeding should only be done when the lights are off or just about to go off. That point is not really up for debate, since its a fact that you will burn the shit out of your girls if you spray them down under the powerful HiD lighting. Thanks for any replies or thoughts given on this topic.
That's an ongoing debate that probably won't ever be settled. There are pros and cons to any watering time, day or night. It really isn't a big deal. I like to water when the lights come on so that the driest period in each watering cycle is at night, when the temps are lower.
Makes no difference really in the scheme of things. Any possible impact it has is minimal if any. For my myself right now I feed after 7pm. Why? I wake my plants up at 7pm. If your plants are in flowering...do not disrupt there 12 hours of sleep.
