Hey guys, bucket here. I swapped my five plants in organic soil over to 12/12 two days ago. Do you guys notice? They seem to drink more water in the first couple days after the flip? It could possibly be white one of mine was showing signs of underwatering. Got to get used to the watering schedule during bloom now. Does anybody else notice this as well? you can expect sudden and unusal stuff happening, like all hormone action its when they ask for banana and ice cream pizzas things get interesting you back from your holidays already how did the plants last?
great!! 53 day veg. On day 3 of bloom. Everything going great! Just let me a little bit of an overwatering issue on the back, right. I also forgot that’s not the same medium as the others I forgot those two are actually some fox farms, happy frog, and some of the raised bed mix so — I kind of understand now
I think the back right may need more water more often then the rest It’s been doing this thing where every couple days it — some of the branches go really limp, n the leaves look droopy. We’ll see everything else looks nice.
I actually did indeed take the CalMag outta my water too!! I am using RO water too. But was advised when using organic amendments it’s not really needed.. I should squirt a A LIL into my sprayer tmrw Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
OK, so I’m definitely going to add back a couple milliliters of calmag per gallon of water — this is exactly what the leaves are doing on that one plant. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
you could also pluck some of those inner facing fans and let the light shine through you have a jungle i just plucked a shitload
Yooo these water wicks really work!! The small jar was bone dry last night!! That tiny jar filled up in about 5 hours. I think I’m gonna try and experiment with the seedling I have in the humidity dome. Maybe just use one wick—starting in a solo cup— keep an eye on how the wick waters it.. then set up a bigger system when I want to transplant. I have a lot of more room to veg a couple more plants even more I have my main crop in bloom.. my buddies basement is huge.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This was yesterday I’m hoping the back right as perked up a little bit. They shouldn’t need a nice amount of water today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think you’re referring to a suggestion I made. To be clear I advised you to obtain a water report and compare it to an irrigation water quality chart that can be found from various universities, I prefer the Penn State chart. I did mention that if you’re in New England the chance of alkalinity being an issue is low. If you’re on a city water supply you should be able to find a report easily. Buying RO water just to add CalMag back to it is silly if your water is OK. CalMag is also not organic. I think you mentioned testing runoff at ~ 8pH. Alkalinity causes osmotic stress which can cause plants to droop. It also locks out iron and sometimes P. Problems with iron always appear towards the top of the plant and on new growth. I suspect this problem occurred when you mixed dry amendments into the soil. More specifically liming agents like oyster, crab shell or ag lime was added in excess. All of which contain calcium carbonate. Determining when a container plant needs water is easy. The ‘lift’ method. Exactly what it sounds like. Lift the container, even partially with one hand. If it feels heavy like a bucket of water it doesn’t need water - if it feels like it’s full of dry leaves (light) it needs water. Here’s an example of how easy and uncomplicated a successful mix can be. These were grown in 50% Roots Organic 25% compost 25% pine bark mulch. Water only. It’s going to be a shame if you continue on with the bro science path but at least I tried. Good luck with it either way. RD
They’ve perked back up. And not really was only quoting you def.. have heard from every other grower that when you’re using RO water, you should be using calmag either way things are looking great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think all I really had to do was bring my water down to the proper pH. Since then everything’s been looking great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk What amendments u using dude?
Lol dude I don’t think squirting a milliliter or two of Cal mag into my water is really considered “science stuff” but lol. P.a how is calcium n magnesium not organic? Je cuz this the exact stuff I’m using .. (TPS nutrients CalMag for organic gardens)
I am using Primo RO water — the one available at Walmart and Home Depot. Brand called primo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have used 1000’s of gallons of RO water without adding CalMag. Including the ones in the pic. Unless you are injecting your water with sulfuric acid I doubt you have changed your soil pH one iota. This is due to the buffering capacity of the liming agents (think calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate) and the cation exchange capacity of your mix. I wish it was as simple as you suggested it would have saved me a lot of time, labor and money. Honestly man your plants don’t look healthy. I used no amendments whatsoever, just a simple mix and water only. When I heard CalMag I incorrectly assumed it was the Botanicare product. Calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate are liming agents. The smaller the particle size the faster they work to raise the pH of a mix - exact scenario inside that bottle. It’s also exactly what you wouldn’t want if you think your soil pH is already too high. Ok. So this is where I’m really lost. You’re taking the time and expense to purchase RO water because you ‘might’ have hard water only to add CalMag and make it essentially the hard water you were trying to avoid in the first place? To make matters worse your tap water is likely perfectly fine. Or to make it even worse than worse the RO water will cost more than replacing the soil each cycle which means you have an even greater probability your tap water will work just fine. I’m dizzy now. I’ve lead the horse to water now it’s up to him to get a report. Or not. RD
