Hey blades I've got 5 seeds and a nice space to begin. Been looking at 600W HPS lights, etc. but still have a few questions : 1) How much watts should I be looking for? 2) HPS or CFL's? What's more cost efficient? 3) How do I find out how much 600W will cost on my electric bill.? I live in an apartment and if it shoots up I think it might look sketch. thanks and reps to all that help!
Hi The equation for the light: 600(watts) x 18(hours) x 28(days) = 302kWh Multiply that by how much your power costs, mine is $.11kWh so that'd be about $33. You can use any number for the watts and hours obviously. If you can get the HPS, I would go with that .. just make sure you have a plan in action for when it's starts getting hot in there. I think the ratio is 100w for the first plant and 50w for each additional plant. But I assume that's for HPS .. CFLs would probably need a truck load for 5 plants Good luck and let us know how it's coming along.
