OK. I'm new to this and I have read a whole lot on the light issues. All I was wondering was is there a cheaper light rather than HPS or MH lights that I can grow cabbage with. If you can give me a website for one I would greatly appreciate it. I have seen those Gro-N-Sho lights and stuff like that. What would you consider to be the best choice for a cheap & inexpensive light fixture to get??

hehe..well either way, i would go with HPS, though im not much of a pro on cabbage might want to check a cabbage growing site, hehe
If you want the most inexpensive but still acceptable light fixture, than go with hallogens, depending on how many plants you got will determine what length tube you should get. Just go down to Homedepot and get a fixture that can plug into the wall, then get a Plant and Aquarium tube, or just by the 28inch fixture that comes with the tube. Peace
Well excluding those who just talk like they know what they what they are talking about. I have had success with halogens, before you critisize, do some research, just because it is not the best, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Plus, even pro growers recommend useing halogens for the first week too two weeks for the seedling.
sup man.... ay dont take it to the heart man... well, growing with home bulbs and halogens is just a waste of time and electricity man..... when not grown under right condition of lighting, plant will grow into been mutan (undevelope leaves, plant streching out, stem too weak to support the bud or leaves, wont produce much bud, and bud will be low pontecy) we are here to support all of each other and to help each other to get better yeild, and to consume all the knowlegde u can to be growing the best bud u can grow.. and lisent to them people who give u advice cuzz they do know what they talking about.. yea some might make a mistake on some information but we learn from our mistake..and best way to learn is reading and lisent for then people who been growing for a long time. if u want decent bud on a low budget, get yo self some fluorecents bulbs, and when u harvest your first bud under the fluorecents, u will notice a bid different of how your plant grew under a hologen, and a fluorecents.......latezz..
Yeah I know halogens are shit, but they are the liest cost substitute, when you don't have enough doe for HPS, than halogen don't look half bad for the time being. But just not to be a complete jerk, I will say that my last plant did die and fall over, but that I believe was because it fell over and the whole plant fell out of the dirt, and everything except the tap root was damaged. Well whether it was because of the light or the fall that eventually killed the plant, but I'm sure the light didn't help especially for a recovering plant after such an injury, so you can debate the reasons but I will keep the option open it might be the light, whatever I didn't mean to come off a jerk.
