Quick CFL and vent question

  1. I recently acquired a simple rubbermaid grow box setup(1.5ftx2ft and about 2 ft high). My 1 month old Lowryder and some sprouts seemed to grow much better in this box. So I decided to throw out the old setup, and stick with this one for now.
It currently has a 4-65wt flourescent tube in a ballast and 2 27wt CFL's. Total of 314 Watts.

The tubes do not seem as bright as the CFL's, is the wattage different?

I have added 4 more sockets into the box and plan on using 2 14wt and 2 32wt CFL's. This would make the box a total of 406 Watts. Is this too much light.

My current vent setup, I have 1 intake and 1 outake fan. Both little computer fans. I plan on adding another outtake fan to help with ventilation. Two choices, either another outake hole, or kind of turbo charge the outtake fan now with two fans, one at the begenning of the vent tube and one at the end.

Any help you guys could give me would be great.

  2. The only time you can get too much light on them is if the temp gets too hot. As long as the temp stays below 85 degrees they should be fine. Not sure on your outtake [otherwise known as exhaust] question. I think either way would be fine as long as the temps are controlled, it probably doesn't matter. However, someone more knowledgeable on grow room design setup will hopefully come around soon. Good luck.

  3. IME doubling the fan on a single hole will cause a lot more noise than 2 seperate fans and holes.

I'd go with two exhaust holes.
