I'm about to start growing two plants. I've never grown before. I have 2 bag seeds. The lights are set up. I was just wondering if I can use normal dirt to grow these in instead of fertilizer. I can get some fertilizer when I get paid, but I'm also very anxious/bored and would like to start growing. I also wanted to know if I need to put any aluminum foil up anywhere in my grow room. Quick answer would be greatly appreciated!
You want to grow in soil, not in "dirt" and certainly not in fertilizer. Look for 100% organic and stay away from any soil that has fertilizer added to it (Miracle Gro time-released can kill baby MJ plants). Line the walls with mylar or paint a flat bright white, either will reflect more light than aluminum foil. Beyond that, you need to do a lot of reading to educate yourself, these kinds of basic questions are pre-answered in the sticky threads at the top of this Beginner's forum.
you could germinate them and plant the seedlings with regular soil and let them grow for a bit just watch your water ph. then add nutes in a few weeks. i would wait till you get everything before you start tho to get best results.
