Hey Guys! First Thread here on the well loved GC Forums! Recently I had some financial problems and had to do the dreadful thing and move into the basement of my parents, and lets just say they hate my best friend Mary Jane. With that being the case I have a crop of plants growing off of some private property near where I live and its getting close to harvesting time, and i have one large problem I do not have a secure place to dry bud so today I fixed my problem in about 20 min with all items I have found around my house otherwise it'll cost you around 5-15$. Materials: A box (any size you want) A knife Duct tape A styrofoam cup Activated carbon (for a fish tank, found at pet store) Paper bags Filter Material/screen A small fan (any will do from a pc fan to a small personal one, just need negative air man!) Once all materials are gathered it is time to start constructing!!! To begin lets start out with our air filter: 1. with our knife lets start cutting slits into the side of the cup for air flow (sorry for the pics) 2. Put activated carbon filter inside of our modified cup and cover it with filter material or screen and make sure no carbon can fall out (if it does do what i did and use some good ol toilet paper to cover up the open end of cup and tape it down) 3. Attatch cup to the fan and make sure no air goes around the cup by covering open space with duct tape Now your filter is good to go! make sure to test it out before you construct the rest there wont be a lot of air flowing out but you should be able to feel it with your face near the slits. Now to make the box. 1. Duct tape the crap out of all possible gaps on the bottom of the box to help seal it off. 2. Cut a hole anywhere in your box for your carbon cup to stick out of (don't go to big, you want part of the cup still inside of the box) 3. Mount fan/filter and seal up the hole where the filter is sticking out of with duct tape! 4. Place paper bags inside for holding bud, tape bags to side, all depends on your box size/placement. 5. Either with your knife or a needle cut small holes on opposite side of fan you do not need many just enough to draw fresh air 6. Place bud inside of bags/box 7. Seal up the top of the box and plug in your fan and you are good to go! Any ideas to make this better or easier and criticism much appreciated
Yep i got it hidden in the corner of my closet with the chord covered by misc shit! So far its working wonders!
interesting!! wonder if this would work with my little cardboard growbox thats being vented with a PC fan (3x3x5)
I like this idea. In the fall I use my garage to dry the crop, temp and humidity are perfect in the fall. When I attempted to dry my last indoor crop the temps were 105+ and the buds dried to crisp overnight. Using this dry box inside the house will be much better. Thanks for the tutorial.
Good thinkin..i was thinking something similar but with a big rubbermaid with screens to lay them on with a real carbon filter, 4 or 6" duct fan and a cap humidity sensor in there to keep it at 50%
I have helped a buddy make one with a very simple design and that lasted him many batches and all he have to do is replace the filter contents witch costed him 2-3 bucks per time. He used the same comcept as this one but the filter was made out of screen, pvc, and carbon. We cut a hole in the side where the filter comes out like on mine and we inserted and sealed with apoxy a 2" coupling and then for the filter we had about 5" of pvc that we cut a bunch of 1/4 holes in the side and we put a cap on one end of the pipe, screen along the inside of the pipe and filled it up with carbon then at the other end put some screen over and hold it with your hands until you fit it into the side of the container in the coupling. If you use that all you would have to do is keep the bucket in a area preferably 65-75 degrees F and 45-55% relative humidity.
