Hello everyone, I am rather new here (my first post introducing myself can be found here). And I had a couple questions. I plan on flowering soon, within a week. I have 2 plants that have been vegging for at least 3 months, currently, and due to space I need to flower before them become to large. My questions are in regards to cloning and flowering. I wish to clone my plants, so that I may grow them outdoors when season comes as well as to continue the strains indoors. I got (what I thought) was a cloning gel, which turned out to be a powder. Now, its my understanding that pot doesnt enjoy the powder as much and rather then mess around with buying another cloning product, I had an idea. Do you think its possible to create a gel, from the powder? I was considering mixing a nutrient solution (10-15-10 plus micros), a bit of water and the cloning powder together and attempting to create a better solution for the clones. Now, Im not sure if this is better then just sticking with the powder, or what, and before I wasted the resources I had, figured Id get some other opinions. Now, in regards to flowering, I have read that plants react very badly to light during the 12-11 hour dark phase, unless its either A. Less then what the moon would produce or B. Green in color. My ability to check up upon them is very erratic an I need to be able to water them and take care of them regardless of what time it is during the cycle. Rather then attempt to get a green light or a very dim light, should I just use a black light? I know they have very little effect upon the plants growth to begin with (other then some highly disputed claims about THC production), so is it logical to assume that if I used blacklight Id notice no negative effects? Or should I find some green color light at the local Walmart? Expect a detailed explanation of my set up and plants, as well as pictures, soon. Thanks for your help, Nekrow.
The powder works just fine, 2 weeks and the roots are growing. The only light that will not effect pot is green or to dim to be useful to you. Get a green led flashlight, infact one of those headlamp type are best and they are great for fishing at night too.
I would not use a blacklight during flowering dark cycle. There are claims that blacklights are beneficial, but for sake of argument let's say that they aren't. Even so, that doesn't mean they aren't harmful during dark cycle -- the plant can still "see" and therefore react to the light. I wouldn't mess with green lights either, just find a way to tend to them during light cycle. You don't need to water and mess with them every day, so you should make a commitment to find time during the light cycle once every 3-4 days. Can't help on the idea of creating cloning gel from powder, sorry.
