Good question but I think it's just cause they don't want to promote violence/have to deal with any legality issues that come from moron kids with guns they don't know how to use.

Probably because those Threads have the potential of quickly leading to what could be considered to be promoting violence. According to the rules, you could however, make a Thread about your new gun if it was in a constrained context of specifically being used for hunting.
