Questions About Growing in an Apartment.

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by redman1992, Oct 7, 2011.

  1. Is it okay? Are there certain ways to maybe save power so it won't be noticeable? I'm a medical patient and I just want to make sure its legal that I do it even though I dont technically own the property like a house.

  2. As long as you pay your bill you should be fine how many watts are your lights?

  3. I would be worried about punchin holes in the wall for ventilation... Might mess up ur deposit when u move out. That's if ur worried about it. That's all I can think of.

  4. You could tape the end of your duct to window sill out of view and it blows right out

  5. Right now I'm running a low watt t5 right now and I'm about to add a 1000 watt HPS.

  6. 1000w gets hot as hell so good ventilation is a must and if in apt and other tenants are strangers a carbon filter I lived in an apt and exhausted out the window and the Exhaust reeked so carbon filter is a def as for your light bill one thousand watt isn't gonna raise suspicion it's when the ops have like 8 lights is when eyebrows raise no worries I lived in Apts and had plenty successful harvest with 2 1000w and other watts in fans and shit no worries just be safe any other questions message me I have alot of experience in this area

  7. jhill883 pretty much hit the nail on the head. Try not to punch holes in walls if you can't fix them. And a good carbon filter is key when you have close neighbors. Good luck.

  8. Forget all the headaches!! just get some ona gel if you're worried about smell, you won't smell a thing, even if you have people over.

  9. ona does not work as a lone smell measurement.

  10. Have you ever thought about micro growing? 1000 watt hps is some serious hardware which will require serious cooling.

  11. I'm currently growing in an apartment. I would not get a 1000 watt I had one and had to return it after burning my plants. Get a nice 400 it'll make your life a lot easier. Or get a sick as one like a cool tube. You should get a light with a glass cover under. Helps control the heat.

  12. If it's just for personal use 1kw of HPS is far more than you need. Of course, 1kw means you can grow enough in one go to last you the whole year, which will mean less time faffing around in the grow room, however if you plan a continual harvest set up you could get away with 300w easily.

Of course I am working on the assumption that you don't smoke a quarter ounce every day lol.

  13. Get a 400 w cooltube

  14. If your growing 2-4 plants I would get a 600w. I started with a 400w for 4 plants and had to run out and get a 600w half way through flowering because they grew outside of the light range. I'm rocking 1000w total now.

  15. @the third eye

Thats funny cause they're specifically designed to and have worked miracles for me. Currently using ona pro block now and not only does it eliminate the odor, but it also eliminates cat box odor in entire different room. If you can have ppl over at your tiny apartment, with 10 plants at week 5 of flowering, and they have no idea.... I'd say yes, it does work a lone smell measurement!!

  16. Before I added ona you could smell from downstairs and very strong before entering door. Now I can't even smell inside the grow room. Idk how you say ona doesn't worked alone cause it absolutely does!!! Just like you co2 ppl always griping about ppl making their own co2. If it works it works, fuck!

  17. What does your lease say? Is there any language about marijuana growing/smoking/possession in the apartment?

Good advice, look up the "rules" so to speak. Assuming makes an ass out of you and me as the saying goes. Lol

To save power you should run all of the electronic stuff you can (i.e. TV, stereo, computers, etc, through power strips that have a handy on/off switch. That way whenever you aren't using those devices you can easily switch them all off at the same time. All of those devices draw juice whether they're on or not. Other big power suckers are microwaves. Unplugging it when not in use would save a good amount of juice. Of course you would either have to reset the clock every time or just get used to the blinking!
