I found this really helpful link on how to make a compost pile How Do I Start a Compost Pile? - 420 Magazine but i had a few questions: 1. Are compost piles just for if you dont have good soil and nutes and are trying to do it all el natural? Or would you use it in conjunction with FFOF and your regular nutes? 2. In the writeup i linked to it said that the piles are heavy in nitrogen, so that would be perfect for vegetation if im correct. So how would you go about that? just planting a seedling straight into a pile?
You would mix it in with your regular soil or use the compost pile to make your own soil. You would want to test the soil and find the NPK for the mix. I dont see the point in doing a compost pile if your going to be using chem fertz. It seems like a waste of good compost. The most interesting thing I have found in Organic growing is you can re use the soil. This is a great if you dont have a good way of disposing of soil.
1. how do you test it 2. because i am using nutes and fox farm soil that means im not organic, so its pointless?
