Sorry if this has already been asked, but I can't seem to find an answer for it. When Prop 19 passes, will people from other states be able to legally purchase and use cannabis when they travel to California?
Yes. Visitors will not be required to prove they are residents. Simply being in Califonia is adequate, for the state law... while in CA. However, this will *not* protect people who are visiting from other states/countries, if they visit, smoke up - and then return to their own state/country and then have to have a drug test, for whatever reason, under their own state laws.
It'll be the same as alcohol or cigarettes. If beer was illegal in Virginia (for the example) and I went to West Virginia, I could buy some beer. But, as Zenghrila said, this won't excuse you from the law in your own state.
why don't YOU make sure my state votes yes? just because you can't vote doesn't mean you can't help spread the word and educate the ignorant.
Unless the "Drug Trafficking Safe Harbor Elimination Act of 2010" (H.R. 5231: Drug Trafficking Safe Harbor Elimination Act of 2010 - Legislative Digest - GOP.gov) actually passes. Then... things might get interesting.
