im running a 600w mh/hps light in a 4x3 area, how many plants would be optimal? how many auto flowers? and how many of either can i feed with, 4 oz Grow Big ~ Big Bloom ~ Tiger Bloom 2 oz KangaRoots ~ Sledge Hammer ~ Microbe Brew 10 g Open Sesame ~ Beastie Bloomz ~ Cha Ching
You could go 6-9 plants depending on method, LST, SOG, SCROG, FIM,etc. Growing 1 plant i got the same amount dried weight as from 2 plants. I prefer one plant for max yeild. But thats just me.
@ usedtocare idk how I should do them that's why I was asking, just can't seem to find a lot on plant to light ratio 1 plant you got more than from 2 I'm lost, what kind of training?
The more plants you have in a grow room thats more light that needs to be shared and less light penetration. 1 plant has more room to branch out and gets all the light available in tent. I LST (Low Stress Training) my plants. That is where you bend the main stem over and tie down so that the all the branches turn up to the light creating a level canopy top. Search the threads for all the methods I mentioned earlier to see how each way works and see what works for you.
If the plant gets too tall, the 600 won't penetrate to the bottom of the plant, so figure plants about 3 feet tall when flowering. Some strains stretch a lot in flowering and some don't. If you put them to flower at around 14 inches, that might get you 3 foot tall plants. Some strains get wide and bushy and some are lankier. It is hard to predict the first time around with a strain. 4 wide bushy 3 foot tall plants under a 600 would be pushing it, but 4 lanky ones might not be. There is no point to cramming a bunch of plants under a light because that just means the side branches on each of the plants won't get light or produce nice buds. If you go with LST or scrogging, that is different because the canopy is pretty much all you are illuminating anyay, and I don't know about autoflowers, so I'm just talking about growing plants in their semi-natural state (trimming the bottom branches and some interior branches for air circulation). If it's your first time, you might want to just try that before you get into the training. As far as 4 oz and a few grams of Foxfarm ferts, those won't get you very far at all, maybe a week or two. Look at Foxfarm's feeding schedule FoxFarm Soil & Fertilizer Company.
