So I found out today that my partner bought 6 sour diesel clones. They are not in water. I should be able to drop them into the machine? It's the six slot machine. Since they are clones should I just start them out with water for a few days? How long will they live with-out being in water? Thanks all.
They have roots, I am going to see them on Sunday morning, untill then I told them to mist the clones with regular water. Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, if they have roots, you can pretty well do anything with 'em. You could even put 'em straight into flower if you were so inclined, but I expect you want to veg a lil bit first.
NIce thanks again, I guess they are in foam right now. I am not sure if I can put them directly into the grower while they are in the foam. I hope I can. I have no idea on how to transfer clones to the hydrogrower. Do I have to remove the foam and transfer them to rockwool? I am going to see them in 8 hours. So far set-up is 6 clones, hydrogrower, 150 watt HPS, going to homedepot to grab some CFLs untill the 400 watt HPS arrives. Also have a grow tent arriving on Monday. Any input is appreciated. Thanks all.
Wish I could illustrate with pictures. Before putting the clones in your drip system, make sure your hydroton pellets have been rinsed to remove any dust and soaked in pH adjusted water. Take some distilled or RO water and adjust the pH to 5.5-6.0 then soak the hydroton in it for an hour. Gently remove the neoprene foam from the clones' stems. There's a slit running halfway to the center of the foam, just pull it away from itself and remove the clone. Won't need any rockwool. Line the bottom of your 6" net pots with enough hydroton that, when you put your clone on top of it, the bottom leaves are above the top of the pot. Hold your clone in place up right in the middle of the net pot and fill in the rest of the pot with hydroton, repeat for the other 5.
They are actually in a growing medium. How far should the water be from the base of the clone? Not touching the bottom? or touching?
What kind of medium? Generally you don't want to soak you medium, unless like you said you are doing hydro and its in Hydroton or something like that. Or is it in soil / rockwool medium? Rockwool you don't want the water touching the rockwool it will just stay soggy. You don't want soggy the roots need oxygen. So either water with air stone or aero or wet medium (soil) that you allow to dry then rewet (watering). Remember they need water and will show you that (wilting) which is easy to recover from (water) but over watering is harder and less in your control. They need to be dry for a couple reasons (I have over watered myself). The roots need to seek out water and grow further and stronger, and the roots need to get enough air so too much water = drown.
Looks like a green type of rockwool, they were touching the water so we are taking some water out so they are atleast a half inch from the bottom of the net pots. Thank you very much. Below the clones I have it directly in the net pot, should I put hydrotron rocks below the rockwool in the netpot? The rock wool bottom 1/2 inch was in water but they are out now..hope I did not screw up that bad. Thanks again.
The biggest question is what wasabe asked and thats "Do they have roots yet" or are they just cuttings in rockwool? If they are cuttings you need to keep rockwool moistbut not wet something like screen tray over regular tray with a little water in it. Or if they have roots well do what you want. Put the rockwool in a basket of hydroton and just water them 5 times a day or less or more just enough to keep rockwool moist or wait till they start a timer and wait till they droop a little and then water the rockwool and hydroton and figure out how long that time was and subtract like 25% of that for watering schedule until you can set them up in your system. Thats my best advice right now someone may have better.
In permalink # 3 I said they had roots. I will get pics up as soon as possible. One of them looks really stubby but bushy. It seemed like the transfer went ok. I only have a 150 HPS on them right now, heading to buy some CFLs for the time being. I was curious if there is a certain time a person must wait till they add nutes to the recently planted clones. A few weeks or right after roots start to hit the water? Thanks all.
I planted some clones last night from aero cloner (raw roots, no rockwool) directly into 16oz red bro cups (party cups) I gave them 5-5-5 GH
I used Dynagrow but just a little less then half the dosage. There is also a spray dosage that I went lite on as well http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e9/neeperconcept/Image021.jpg Only half the dosage. But I also have http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e9/neeperconcept/Image020.jpg I have a picture but took it on a bad camera. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e9/neeperconcept/Image019.jpg This is how it looks right now. Don't have vent system for the grow tent yet.
Hey hey those are looking mighty fine! A lot of times clones are pretty shabby but those are looking just fine, good start to your grow!
the first thing u need to do is take 2 of them suckers and put them into veg. that way u dont have to buy any more cuttings ....... WOOOoooorrrrrdddd....
You are fine keep them under 24/0 or 18/6 (that is in veg) 12/12 light (in flowering) is for later 12-18" usually. Since they are clones they don't grow symmetrically because they come from a mature plant. \|/ \|/ \|/ Thats what a seedling in veg looks like. This is what a Clone or mature plant looks like \| .|/ \| .|/ So your clones are genetically from a mature plant so they grow that way. Your plant needs to be mature which yours already are to flower. So you COULD start flowering right now. But you are doing the right thing and vegging them up and letting the roots grow and the stalks to get thick. Before you put them into flower though take cutting (your own clones). And then you will be able to start vegging after a couple weeks. He is essentially saying veg those up and take cuttings or take 2 and veg them as mothers and flower 4. If you have the room veg those up take a full set of clones (depends on how many you want for first grow, say you want 4 plants again, I would probably take extra clones esp first time like 10) Or take a couple after say 2 weeks once plants are bigger and stronger if you don't kill them and they root take some more (a week or 2 later) and then put them into flower. So that once your current harvest is done you will have plants done vegging or whatever.
