Question about the "Deep Web"

Discussion in 'Silicon (v)Alley' started by Senior PoopiePants, Nov 3, 2011.

  1. I'm not interested in shit like ToR. I'm curious to know if there are unindexed sites that contain knowledge/information - like scientific peer-reviewed documents, University-type wiki's that go into extensive details about the sciences.

Well, I'm sure they are not indexed, but how can we find them? I like learning shit. Wikipedia and its sources only go so far.

Anyone know what I mean?

why would that be in the deep web? stolen bank accounts and cp is what tor is for

sorry to let you down though

  3. Something like that can probably only be found if you know where it is

  4. isn't that what google scholar is for lol. deep web is for immoral gray area type shit. stuff that doesn't fit into the "norm". deviant

  5. This is PERFECT. Thanks!

  6. The deep web includes more than just the Tor network, but unless the studies you're looking for have highly illegal implications/information involved (advanced drug synthesis teks, IED plans, etc.) then you're better off with Google Scholar and other search engines. The deep web while not always illegal, doesn't usually contain info meant for people that aren't specifically looking for it.

  7. Fuck the deep web. Google Scholar is awesome. It's chock full of goodies. Endless scholarly literature!

  8. Microsoft Academic Search seems good also. ;)

  9. When I want to learn I just go to Fox news

  10. I doubt your still in college, but if you are, you've got tons and tons of databases that are just filled with new stuff everyday. I seriously waste hours just skimming some of the databases that house science related journals and essays.

  11. I never went to college.

  12. That's on the "regular" web.

  13. Im interested in ToR, its wicked awesome =D and yes, there are un-indexed sites everywhere, indexed just means the sites been crawled, rated and added to a search engine. Its easy enough to change the robots.txt file on your site to stop spiders from crawling it site. But then no one would see your site, at least not on the webz :p What you speck of sounds more suited to an intranet anyway. Something off the webz but acts like the web for an internal network such as a university campus, with access through VPN's set up by administrators, back door Trojans from collage students who download porn all day haha, campus wifi and probably more, you could create your own, think like a hacker =P lol stuff like drug synthesis and IED papers are easy enough to find just on Google. Keep in mind that Google isn't the only search engine out there.

  14. most of those sites i mentioned don't want their pages indexed by bots
