Live in CT and was looking on the norml website and it says that Connecticut has tax stamps for marijuana and that it's 3 dollars or something per gram. Wtf is this? if its illegal why are they supplying stamps for people? Confused
It's so they can charge some one with tax evasion when they get caught distributing (yet how can one actually use said stamps without incriminating themselves?). Nothing more than a real life example of a catch 22.

There were no 'drug laws' back in the day. The government at the time knew their only way to stop cannabis was to put an economic sanction of some kind on the product. In essence, these tax stamps laws said you could plant marijuana if you purchased these stamps from the government - here's the catch - they won't sell them to anyone. It was a way before modern drug laws to prohibit the use, indirectly, and if you were caught with said product could be charged with evaded paying this particular tax - which is a felony in some or all States. A few States still have these old laws from the 30's & 40's
Kansas, the backwoods bible thumping state that can't evolve, has had pot stamps for a long time... I have heard of people losing all their property over the TAX evasion angle (LEO seizes your home and car, sells it at auction and the state keeps the money...) yet the 'victim' is never charged/convicted of any crime...just like DARE. welcome to Amerika, land of the greed, home of the slave, ..COMRADES!
