question about seedlings?

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by Oldschool OG Kushman, Mar 31, 2016.

  1. If I crack a seed in a paper towel and then put in a small pot of organic soil then put that in straight sunlight will it die?

  2. Nope...that's usually how people go about starting seedlings for outdoor growing.

  3. Ive read alot of ppl put them in the dark just until the cotlyedons pop out and then sunlight.

  4. I've never put them in the dark but maybe some people do? I had always assumed the warmth from the sunlight encouraged the plant to sprout out and grow..even inside I cracked my beans then put them in soil with the light on..

  5. I always thought the same thing but I just read that the plant cant even use photosynthesis till its above ground so there is no need to have them under any kind of light source

  6. Eh then I guess it can't hurt either.
