Question about scales

  1. I'm currently looking to purchase this nice little scale:[ame]http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Pocket-scale-HI-03N-0-01g/dp/B005ODDZ2I/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1324439995&sr=8-10[/ame]

The price can't be beat, and what i'm really looking for is a scale that weighs in 0.01g increments that can also weigh a decent amount if needed, so 100g capacity seems okay for my needs. My concern is that should I be weary that this scale is so cheap? If I buy the proper calibration weight for it, should it not matter how cheap or expensive it is? If this is not a good choice for what I need, please give me some suggestions!!!

    Thanks in advance!

  2. You get what you pay for. From personal experience I can say that scale is not the most accurate out there. Little atmospheric changes will make the reading change.

Look up 'blade scale' on google. I believe it is just under $10 and is very accurate. Has never failed me.

    Hope that helps.

  3. this kind? [ame=http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Black-Digital-Pocket/dp/B002SVQIRS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1324441720&sr=8-2]Amazon.com: American Weigh Black Blade V2 Digital Pocket Scale, 100 by 0.01 G: Kitchen & Dining[/ame]

  4. They are all pretty much the same if they are under like a hundred dollars. An eighth will still be am eighth regardless

  5. this is true i own a few scales and the extremely cheap ones work just as good and can handle about the same stress without needing to be recalibrated as more expensive scales they usually just wont have as many features

i got a 8$ .01 off ebay that i have never had to recalibrate since i bought it 2 years ago

  6. So i really should have no problem with a $5 scale being reliable?

  7. So you would recommend I do NOT get that $5 scale here [ame]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ODDZ2I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=A6VW2BZZCXDSO?[/ame]

Also, are you def sure the 1000g blade scale will weigh out to .00? The information says it only reads out to .1 with a accuracy of +/-.2

  8. Would you be able to tell me the brand of the one you purchased?

no it just says digital scale there all about the same pick one you like keep in mind a tiny scale will be hard to use for weighing full size bags

if u want a scale that goes down to a hundredth of a gram then dont get the blade 1000 it only weights to the tenth

edit// my friend has the same scale in the amazon link its not bad works perfect but its a bit small for me

  10. Actually with a little more looking around, and with size in mind I think this one is perfect for me [ame=http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Scale-Bt2-201-Digital/dp/B001TZ92TK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1324573662&sr=8-3]Amazon.com: American Weigh Scale Bt2-201 Digital Gram Pocket Grain Jewelry Scale, Black, 200 X 0.01 G: Electronics[/ame]

Never had a touchscreen digital scale though, how are they?

  11. I'm kind of in the middle between that one and this one [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TZ92TK/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3SPLR0MSOYZ8O]Amazon.com: American Weigh Scale Bt2-201 Digital Gram Pocket Grain Jewelry Scale, Black, 200 X 0.01 G: Ace Photo Digital[/ame]

The only reason I would rather the other model is that is can weigh a full 100g more, and the touchscreen seems like a pretty cool feature, just not sure how durable a touchscreen would be verse actual buttons. I do like the large weighing surface on the blade though =)

  12. Its up to you in the end, I feel like more things could go wrong with a touch screen though.

  13. ive never used one with a touch screen im sure it will work fine and it has a cover so im sure its fairly well protected but regular buttons are probably more reliable

  14. Yeah you get what you pay for. trust yo gut
