Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by CaliKid858, Apr 7, 2011.

  1. where do you get them...do u just make them out of a magazine or something?

  2. I'm not sure I understand what you are talking about sir......

  3. im talking about roaches... the thing u put at the end of a joint

  4. Ohhh the filters! Yeah I make em out of business cards, match boxes, anything of that material

  5. Well let me inform you what a roach is...
Yes it is the end of joint. But what the definition for a roach is is that after you smoke the joint the very end that gets too close to your lips that you cant smoke anymore, thats the roach. It's not something you add. Just basically whats left of the joint thats too close to your mouth to smoke.

  6. I get roaches from joints that I have finished smoking.

  7. We call them roaches in england. It proper confuses me on here when people are like OH you meant the filters. XD. For us, filters are the little filters you get for roll-up cigarettes. o.o

Yes, you just make them out of material like train tickets, or thin card. You can also buy tiny books of roach card for a minuscule amount of money.

  8. I use a the outside of a chewing gum package usually if there's nothing else the package the joint came in.

I'm surprised you have to make a thread to acquire the answer for this question

  9. School book material works wonders

  10. That's sometimes referred to as a crutch, but different places have different words for it. Use almost any kind of hard paper for it and you should be good. Happy smoking :smoke:

  11. roach
    n. pl. roach or roach·es
    1) Joints are rolled with tobacco to help them burn. The tobacco leaks tar, which can cover and burn the smoker's lips and fingers. A roach, is a small piece of cardboard, often torn from the pack of rolling papers, which is rolled and placed into the mouthpiece of the joint. This makes it easier to hold and also makes it possible to smoke the entire joint without the aid of a roach clip.

Where I'm from a roach is something you put in.

  14. ya crutch here too

  15. You don't buy roached. You get them from smoking down to the last bit.

  16. I use the outside of my package of rolling papers :)I just cut the right size piece off.

  17. And come on guys I'm sure you know what he meant... I did. He's not even wrong since some people, depending on where you live call a "filter" a "roach". I typically call it a filter yeah, but who cares he just wants to know how people get material to make it. Don't have to be condescending especially over and over.

  18. ^ This.

Where I'm from a roach is the roll of card/paper you put in to support the "filter". And yeah, any card or paper that rolls nicely into a circle is fine, I find the rolling paper card or cigarette packet too stiff and furry (collects those nasty tasting oils) and folds into jagged shaped edges that don't feel comfortable on your lips. I use thick magazine paper.

You can singe the edges of it before you roll it, again, this stops the hairs collecting nasty oils.

  19. Cue cards are perfect for filters.

  20. I make mine out of flash cards. Each card makes about 14, so a stack of 100 cards that you get for a dollar (or less) will really go a long way.
