Question about promethazine.

  1. Is it still safe to use if its passed the expiration date? my guess is no.but i dont want to throw a bottle without making sure its useless.

  2. Never use medication past the expiry date

Most of the time it's just the point when the active chemical becomes inert, but it's better to play it safe.

  3. Promethazine, by itself, recreationally? Please pass on that one..

  4. Actually medicines are usually good long past their expiration date (although they can start to deteriorate in quality), they're required to have an expiration date by the FDA, so they do...

"Most of what is known about drug expiration dates comes from a study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration at the request of the military. With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing its drugs every few years. What they found from the study is 90% of more than 100 drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, were perfectly good to use even 15 years after the expiration date. "

  5. Oh wow neat, I didn't know that.

I thought the expiration dates were more solid than that. That's what I get for trusting the FDA.

  6. yeah the fda is fishy as hell...
