Question about pot sizes

  1. Hello!
Just recently have I been looking into growing my own marijuana, and I have pondered the many different techniques involved in this "specialty", one of those being Hydroponics.
    Please, observe:

This system costs quite a bit of money, agreeable, but what I'm mostly concerned with when it comes to these is pot sizes. These pots that comes included in this system holds two gallons. Would this be enough for adequate root space for, say, short to medium-sized strains? I don't want to invest this much money into a system that won't even allow my plants to achieve their full potential.

  2. I cant say for hydro but, you would be cutting it really close growing organic in dirt. To ensure lots of room to grow, I like the 5 gallon buckets but settle for 3 galloners as they are easier to manage. Hydro may be something different though, it might depend on your medium as well.

  3. Well, for medium-less hydro growing, there's no need for the roots to spread/branch out like they would in a organic/soil installation, so they just grow straight down, since there's no need for them to "search" for nutrients and such, since it's constantly being provided to them. Anyways, I believe the roots still need to grow in proportion to the actual size of the plant. Unfortunately, this still poses a problem in the size of the pots. It would seem like to me, at least, that the roots wouldn't need to grow bigger if they're being given all that they really need from a hydroponic system. Obviously, if you're going to grow a small tree using hydroponics, it's roots are still going to be bigger than, say, a pea plant's. I'm just giving some correct proportins: I'm not saying that roots shouldn't grow at all.

  4. that will be fine if u keep the plants in the small to medium range...the difference here is since that is a drip setup all of the space in is for roots, and 2 gallons volume wise is lots of space for roots, it's the medium that takes up space, but that system has a seperate rez so ur all good.

  5. hmm im not sure.....it looks like it all close together i like to keep as much slace inbetween my plants as i can
