So i bought a 400w hps with the ballast as a kit and i got home plugged it in for like 10 min and all it does is some purple arc thats really not bright... no light whatsoever... is this a common easy fix or i have to go back to hydro store? Peace
Make sure the bulb is seated tightly. If it's not the light might not arc on or it may blink on and off.
i screwed it in so tight that it feels like the threads would jump if i went any further... like i said there is some electrcity getting to the bulb because it makes a loud noise and a blue violet arc at the base of the bulb i had it on for 30 minutes and not even the slightest light
Sounds like the ballast and the socket are doing its job. I see this same effect if my lamp is shut down after running a while. The system will not start it again until it cools and I see that same arc but not light. But if your system is cool this is obviously an issue with something. I would have him test the bulb. Take your ballast too so he can show you the bulb work with it.
ok thanks a lot everybody, definetly going back to hydro shop and probably a bad bulb cuz its a 430 son agro and the ballast is specified for that model so it should be working... PEACE
went back to my hydri shop and they put in another bulb. it lit up instantly so he gave me it free because i didnt have like 1 day and the other bulb wasnt working... so problem solved thank you everyon, you can close this thread or whatever is usually done PEACE
