Question about Molasses

  1. So when my partner was out grocery shopping I asked her to pick up some blackstrap for me since I ran out. The stuff she got I am a little worried about (not the usual stuff I buy) because it does not say if it is unsulphored or not. The brand Tout Naturel which I have never heard of...
When I look at the ingredients it says only
    Blackstrap Molasses (Sulphites*)
    *Naturally Occurring
Does this mean it only has the good sulphates in it and not the added preservative that is in sulphored molasses?
    Thanks

  2. Yes, that molasses should be fine. All blackstrap molasses contains some naturally occurring sulfur, it's only when sulfur dioxide is used in the processing of molasses that it becomes "sulfured molasses." Although the labeling is confusing, your molasses are unsulphured. If you are really concerned you can call the company and ask them. HTH :smoke:

  3. Thanks! That is what I thought but I just wanted to make sure first before I used it since the last stuff I had did not have any mention of Sulphates.
