Question about Medi Card in Cali

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by mynameiswho, Jan 28, 2010.

  1. I am in california and have been diagnosed with migraines by 2 seperate doctors. I want to go to medicann to get my card as I want to go to a legit place not some small shady place in Oakland. They require you to bring in written documentation as well as all your primary healthcare providers information.

I can easily get the information but I went to 2 different doctors to get the info. I want this to be as low key as possible so i have two questions.

    1) Do doctors who evaluate contact your primary helathcare provider? The idea here is i only want the place giving me the recommendation to know that i have a card. I want my primary healthcare provider to be in the dark about it.

    2) One of the doctors that gave me the first diagnosis is a doctor from my colleges health center. Would i be safer to use that persons info and paperwork?

    3) How exactly do I get my medical information? I want specific paper work so if i called the doctor/health center and asked them to send me information pertaining specifically to my migraine will i get only said information?

Just looking for some info from anyone who has had any expereience with medical marijuana in california as well as anyone who may have dealt with medicann for their recommendation. They charge 150$ so i wanna make sure i dont get screwed otherwise ill just go to one of the cheaper places in oakland.

  2. Hopefully this helps.

    1. Nope. That's why they ask you to bring paperwork.

    2. I'd use the most recent, but if you're more comfortable with the health center use that.

    3. You can ask your doctor for a copy of your record showing the condition, ask for a note describing the condition, etc. They just want to see it on paper. The first time I used a discharge slip from the ER stating I came in for a migraine and had a shot. The 2nd, I brought an order form for an mri that stated the condition. They'll want a copy of the paperwork for their records.

If you have prescriptions, bring those too.

  3. for sure, i need a new perscription anyways so I think I'll just make an appointment with the healthcenter and ask for a refill, explain i had a concussion which brought on more migraines (fuckin sucks waking up with a headache) and then ask for a copy from the doctor that day of the records. I doubt ill get them that day but at least that way i can get the right information.
