okay so i have messed around with friends boards. Now i wanna go all in and get a board from 150-250. my main problem is what kind of board do i want, i weigh 260. i'm thinking i liked some of the sector 9 boards boards but do i have to worry much about the weight? so i'm also looking at a board from loaded longboards. help plz? (i'm not keeping to one brand, i was just looking at them.. also like arbor)
it all depends bro. what will you be using the board for? downhill, sliding, carving, commuting, cruising, etc. for trucks you want to have a reverse kingpin (paris, bear, and a few others). the longer the truck the more stable the board will be, and visa versa. for wheels, it depends on what you're using it for and how long the board is as well as shaped. keep watch on the size of the wheel (in mm) as well as the hardness of the wheel [in a (durometer)]. for bearings I would get some bones reds, they are about $20 and very efficient. any other questions you have just ask and I'll do my best to answer them.
Vape has some good points, however you're going to have to try out a few different boards at the shop and see what you are most comfortable on. My current setup is a drop deck (lower center of gravity) double kingpin trucks and 69mm wheels. I like to carve so this is good for me.
Guys i really think i want a land yacht drop speed. Will that work?
you need to give us more information...
If you tried it out and it felt good buy it up. I like that style of board, but by all means do not buy it because it looks cool, buy it because it feels right. What trucks/bearings/wheels will you be using?
Okay. I think im set on this one. Rayne demonseed 180 randals 83mm flywheels (75a) Bone reds
get some flat washers instead of those cupped ones and don't forget about bushings!
Wait what do you mean? Sorry im a newbie.
inside your truck, there should be two cupped washers. one right below the nut, above the top bushing, and another one at the very bottom under the bottom bushing. unscrew the nut and take one of your washers to a hardware store (unless you have some flat washers the same size at your house or around) and show someone who works there the washer and ask for a flat one. make sure to get four though (two for each truck) if you are going to be a downhill rider or someone who primarily slides, this information is useless. this is more for someone who wants to carve. a flat washer will have less restrictions when it comes to turning, so the truck won't hit the now flat washers. you will be able to turn quicker and faster and it will be more responsive.
