Question about light cycles

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by mardanlin, Sep 17, 2009.

  1. Hey, I'm new to growing and this is my first time so excuse the noobishness. :p But anyway, I started the grow in an AeroGarden Space Saver 6. I have 3 plants growing out of it. Two are the same age, although ones slightly bigger and more mature (more stems rooting form the main stalk) than the other. However, one of the plants was started about a week after the rest of them and it's noticeably smaller than the other two.

I've switched to a 12/12 light cycle, and I'm using a 150w HPS flood light. (I just switched from the main AeroGarden light for the 12/12 cycle.) Would giving a plant too little light hurt it? The oldest plants are a month old now and look really good, but like I said that little one is still so small (6in maybe) and the others are about 10-12in. Is this even an appropriate time to be budding them?

And for future reference, does it hurt to start a 12/12 cycle too early if I want to induce budding faster? if so, when is the earliest I can safely switch to it, thanks.

  2. I heard going with more than 12 hours darkness can cause hermies.
