Question about a light.

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Seedling Curl, Feb 26, 2016.

  1. OK so I have posted a couple times on here about my plants that are 5 days from being a month old (from the time of writing this post). They barely started their second set of leaves and still tiny, extremely slow growing. The issue was the light based off the pics I posted on past topics, and was told till I get a better light then the fish tank light led light I was using to use a desk lamp with a cfl. Well, I have set up the new light and have some questions, the light is a 13 Watt 2700K with 900 lumens, how far away should i keep the light from the plant? It does not seem to let off much heat in the 12 or 13 hours I have had it on. Right now I have it about 2 inches away from my plant, also it is OK to leave them on 24/7? and maybe how long do you think to see changes in growth from this light? I am not aware of the strains.
    --Questions--
    - Will a light with the specifications work to grow?
    - How far away should i keep the light from plant?
    - Can I leave it running 24/7?
    - Possibly how long can I expect a result?

Hello, you should have 6400k bulbs for veg and 2700k for flower.
13 watt isn't enough to sustain the plant for long.
You should get you're self a couple of 100watt bulbs.
2inch for those lights is ok and you should be running you're light for 24/7.....but it depends on the age of the plant.
To tell you when you're going to see more plant growth is kinda hard considering you're only using 13watt light.

  3. ok thank you! it says on the website about these lights that its a 60 watt equivelient. not sure if that makes a difference

I will be getting a better light setup soon this is only temporary

  4. Greetings, use a cooler light temp for veg. Multiple cfl's work well with a reflector. If you want more vigorous growth go with t5 high outputs.

  5. Don't pay attention to the watt equivalents. Whenever we talk about needing more watts, it's based off the number before the equivalence. 13 CFL watt equivalent to 60 watt incandescent.
