Hello, I have some troubles preparing my querilla grow.Any ideas and discutions are wellcome.I am planing to grow 5 plants 3 photoperiod(Ams,Trainwreck,The church)and 2 autos(Jock Horror,Afghan kush)I realy wanted to plant without pots, because I may have problems to go often for watering, and get bigger yeld.So the area where I want to plant looks like this-it is a long irrigation canal, comming from a big lake. This is almost the end of canal,so he created something like canyon at some places 10-15 meters deep some places less.My first idea was to grow neer the water, because don't want to bring water in containers from long distance, but the water there is too acid probably around 5.4PH I am using paper PH meter with comparing scale....The soil there looks like mud or clay and water can't penetrate, not shure if this is from previous rains,or from canal. So I think pots will be better. What do u think?Anyway all area around is with big dry plants strawberry and similar spiny bushes, when u go neer water-more rush plants. The plants are soo bushy that make very hard to penetrate there. Some places the strawberrys come like 1.6 1.8 meters, and they are still dry!.I saw some garderns in similar areas spiny bushes which are used like a wall.My problem is that I can't find way to enter like 2 or 3 meters deep in them and I don't know how to take them out from ground,to place the my pots.Still not shure if I will keep the pots above the ground,I was thinking to bring some soil from nearest plowed field(not shrue the PH but it isn't close to the water.)The soil seems nice aerated, and I will upload photos tommorow for overal view, anyway when I press it it turn in clay form so not shure. The soil what I will be use from the field probably mixed with little sand and vermiculite. What tips u guys can give me I realy can't afford to buy expensive potsor mixes. Can't pay almost nothing now.I like very mutch the smart pots, but not shure will find them here.Is it fine to use big sugar/rice bag inside and a plastic bag outside, because the sugar bag will be dry fast. Also what surface and vermiculit part of the soil u advice me for minimum watering. My point is aroud 1 kilogram dry buds from the 3 plants and nice devopling autos? The area here is enaught humid I think because is close to the see
If u wanna save money just dig holes and line them contractor grade garbage bags, poke holes in the bottom for drainage, fill with your soil mix.
A kilo from 3 plants is a lot to expect,u would need about 50 gallons of soil per plant to get those numbers, last season I did 34 plants in 7 gallon grow bags, just under 10 pounds of dry buds.
Don't use miracle grow get fox farms ocean soil mix or make your own with peat moss, perlite, bone meal, and worm castings. Remember plants need nitrogen in veg. and phosphorus in flowering.
Well I am not shure if 1 kilogram from 3 will be low anyway I can u use some of the freebies depend of strain(seeds not here yet tomorrow will order them). The soil mix will be from neerest plowed field mixed with some vermiculite and sand. Will use sintetic nutrient somre regular NPK.Like very mutch the idea with holes in the ground with contractor grade garbage bags, but Is fucking hard to take out of the ground the bushes there are some strawberry, not shure how I an do this...What do u think just to fill them with soil and put them betwyn the bushes?I am afraid they will broke from the pression of the soil or from the plants aroun. Any ideas feel free to shoot pls realy need this help fast
The bag is better off in the ground, above ground it well tent to tip over, below ground keeps ur roots cool, they like that, leave the bags there and grow in the next season,I have never had problems with the soil around the back caving it in or anything
dig holes, line with contractor bag, or dont, only being there and seeing the native soil can tell you the right decision for that, 20 gallons of soil per plant will get you about 1lb per plant. because youre on a budget make sure you use garden lime in your soild so you can avoid ph problems and a ph meter all together... if price over quality is the concern use miricle grow moisture control potting soil.. I dont care who knocks it... its good for a pound in 15 gallons of soil with only diluted pee for N and some bat poop for P lol... source: my eyes....now this isnt optimal, but like i said ...if price is a concern than you just grew 3lbs with a hundred bucks lol
I am afraid to start working on the bushes and after that can't finish the job because there are so intense...Anyway how can calculate how mutch garden lime to use.Isn't it fine just to flush the the soil with ph controled water?
tablespoon of lime per gallon of soil... please save yourself the headache and do this. its like 3.99 for a bag
