Someone told me i could improve my yeild to watt ratio by using quantum boards. I use a home made COB setup i made about 9 years or 8 years ago. It's 209 watts from the wall and in scrog usually get between 4 and 8 ounces. (2ft by 2ft) About a year ago my driver shit itself and i had to give my plants away so im thinking i need a backup light but this time im thinking of using a quantum board led. I asked cutter electrtonics about quantum boards and they didnt know what i was talking about. thats who i bought my COBs from. They used to be popular for the do it yourself crew but dont know anything about what im after. Where and who sells quantum boards? How much are they and will i get more than 8 ounces in 2 x 2 scrog?
HLG sells quantums, not sure if you can get them in the land down under. However, I think bar LED's have dethroned quantum boards. I'd consider looking into those if you're in the market to upgrade.

So you have pulled 8 from 200 watts . Well a qb will do the same . there are many different panels i have used 4 different kinds . All the same end result. Actually i m going back to hps . I am losing yields using Qb boards . I actually pull more from hps then qb. It took me three harvest . I get more GPW using hps. So if your pulling 8 from 200 what keep what your using No need to change it . Qb have a lot more par straight down . Hps have a lot more spread par. So with larger plants in my situation hps wins . Smaller plants qb boards. Grow journal coming soon and you going to see some Plants that look like they came from another planet. Finally i do not like how qbs veg . I like t5 or metal halide even the purples veg better then qb boards . My opinion. There will be many . But if you want to buy 200 watts of Qbs i can suggest some for 30 for 100 watts Price dropped on them My opinion is based on many 5/5 foot areas and plants that flowered over 3 foot tall. Qb fail. But qb do have a lot less heat they are very cool running systems . Do qb really save money ??? 5foot 5 area . I need 1000 watts of qb to cover that area. A hps 1000 watt covers it perfectly . But again the hps is a furnace hot ! Half the straight down par . More side lighting to the area next to it. I will continue to use qb for plants under a foot veg. Hps for real plants vegged over two foot tall. My grow journal will have 3 foot vegged plants .
Yeah Bryan i lik hps, i got a little more than 36 ounces of primo colas no LARF off a 600 watt hps vertical sea of green. Im just sick of cutting holes in the ceiling in rental apartments. At the moment im limited to two small plants under a 2ft by 2ft scrog and im only after a backup..might just look at what spiderfarmer have to offer for a 2ft by 2ft

I asked them they didn't know anything about quantum boards. anyway its just a backup ill go with a factory made one this time. Even though im a sparky, too many fuckups with do it yourself.
u know quantum board isn't the real term; the real term is printed circuit board (PCB) LED. Cutter's sell their version as Sol-Skin (linked). They got a lot of different models. They also have LED strips which are very handy, especially for better light distribution and side lighting. Or buy a SpiderFarmer, I got a 240W version, works good. Or buy a MARS, very nice newer lights as well. but cutter electronics looks like they on top of the game.
Idk how it is there . If you have facebook market place . Lights are cheap here. You can get a light 80 % off used , If money is tight . Inflation is killing me in the states. I stopped spending money except groceries . I will wait a bit for major purchases . Prices are finally starting to fall. Everything is 30 to 50 % more then a year ago .
I haven't looked around for lights but east coast Aust everything is going up including rent petrol and food. Where im at things are cheap except petrol and food. But looks like within six months rent will go up. Im not sure whethor 100 watt spider farmer will be enough for a 2 x 2 scrog, i get deep penetration with 200 watts of cobs decent sized buds and super dense and frosty. I think i might look for a 200 watt spiderfarmer unless thats too powerful?
