I currently am on my Second run In A 3x3 tent with 4 Qb 132s. Had some good results the first time. Was thinking about adding the new qb96 v2 to the mix. Might step it up to a 4x4 tent and veg a little longer before I flip to flower. If I stayed in the 3x3 tent could I add in a qb96 or would that b to much with the 132s. Also what do you guys prefer for heat sink package. Is it worth the extra 20 bucks for the one that screws on rather than the adhesive. Is that the only difference between the two deals on hlgs site? The difference between the two 96 options is that one comes with a heatsink and thermal pad and one comes only with a thermal pad but you still need a heatsink for it. The thermal pad is just for placing between the board and the heat sink.
You could do it if your qb132's are on a dimmable driver so you can ramp back the total power in the space to around 300-350 watts max in flower even with the qb96. Then it should work. You don't want more power then that in a 3x3. The additional reds and more light power would give you some larger colas. I did pretty much the same thing on a larger scale. I added two qb96's to the two qb260 kits I already had in my 4x4. Just dim everything to correct light levels at the top of the plant. Running too many leds dimmed gives you a more efficient running fixture that runs cooler, lasts longer and can run a shorter light distance without sacrificing coverage for better penetration into the canopy.
