Quality quiet fan ?

  1. Hi I'm looking to upgrade my exhaust fan situation, rn I just have a booster and I feel like I need more but without raising noise level . Anyways I was thinking of getting the AC infinity cloudline t4. I think it will definitely ventilate my 2x2x5 , and not be too noisy (it's advertised at 28 db but idk if that's exact ) for 150 cad seems alright . Just curious if anybody else has good recommendations for low noise fans , thanks .

when i bought both my fans (2x 2x4 tents) i REALLY wanted the AC infinity fans. still do. they sound awesome. but i was on a budget so couldn't spend for them, bought instead the Vivosun 4" fan / carbon filter package with variable fan adjustment.

if you don't need the filter, just the fan:

noise was pretty quiet but i could still hear it. realized what i was hearing wasn't fan noise at all but the wind noise of the air being exhausted out the piping. so i got the inline sound muffler. quiets it down enough now that at full max speed, which i really never need, i can just hear it only because it's in a very quiet unused room, the fan on the light's driver is louder. at all speeds can't hear an thing. can basically never hear the fan itself, only the moving air. that's going to be regardless of what brand fan.
doesn't have the fancy adjustable temp settings for fan control though but for over half the price difference...

  3. muffle the exhaust. a few pillows, a blanket, or any fabric will do just fine. dont clog it, just muffle it. I ran my ducting up behind the bed once and under the pillows in the guest room. couldn't hear anything.

  4. yep! it's the exhaust making noise, not the fan, unless it's a really bad fan i guess :)

  5. Technically it is the fan making noise, the exhaust is resonating it lol.

  6. I use 8 inch inline Active Air commercial exhaust fans .
I have a few years running my fans 24/365
    Quiet and dependable .
You will need a speed controller with it .

  7. A larger fan turned down with a speed controller is generally quiter than a smaller fan ran ar full blast.

You can also make a box to put the fan in and fill it with foam or some other sound deadening fill.

  8. I made these filters .
I have three of these on each 4x8 tents .

  10. Yea it's sweet ,I should have gotten that fan before any other. At level 4 (out of 10) it's just about impossible to hear unless I walk up right beside it . Keeps my 2x2x5 having negative pressure. The control panel is also sweet , easy to use , lots of feautures . Would definitely recommend. Wouldn't spend money on any other fan after getting the ac infinity .

  12. I was l torn between this and the ac infinity fan, but turns out the ac infinity doesn’t use the same EC motor as their 4-6” series.

Terabloom was the only readily available option that had a true digital fan.

FYI - we’re talking 75 watts vs 180 watts on the ac infinity. I’m powering two 8” in fans for less power than one 8” ac infinity. I have to be careful of power usage since I’m running on a limited circuit. Every watt counts, including fans.

The build quality is very nice. It’s lightweight, but from stamped aluminum, so it feels very rigid. The only gripe, the connectors are a bit tight to put into place, but they are waterproof, and after getting them situated, it’s a really good fit.

We’re starting to get summer weather in Southern California, and our place has awful circulation. I plugged this in to move some cool air into the bedroom for the night, and holy crap, this moves air

I really like ac infinity’s built in temp / humidity package, but the motor was a deal breaker.

I will be purchasing a dedicated controller for the fans. That will put me more in-line with the ac infinity, but better hardware l, in a more efficient package.

On the box, it notes designed on California. I thought that was cool

  13. Damn going to have to get me one of those ac infinity fans in the future.

  14. That looks like a good fan, I use DC motor fans because you can run them slow and reduce the noise.
Being on a budget, and not knowing you could buy commercial DC fans, I use car heater fans powered by computer power supplies using the 5volt circuit.
I had planned to build a controller and switch between the 3.5v 5v and the 12v outlets, but never did it.

  15. Looks like that filter has been used up lol. Great idea

  16. No not yet , filters are more and more efficient as they trap more dust .

I've used this pc fan before on a carbon filter 2x2 tent
Looks like I'm not allowed to post links... The fan is Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC 3000RPM

Its much quieter than even a mixed flow fan. I've used it with a 250w hps (not recommended!! ). It worked but not well haha. OTOH the fan was perfect for 125w. It looks like you are running 180w hmm

I was looking at ac Infinity for an equivalent pc fan. They do have one that claims to be quieter but from the specs I do not think they were truthful
