Quality PC Micro Grow - GUIDANCE NEEDED

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by majinjeff, Apr 19, 2018.

  1. Hi everyone,

I’m thinking of making a quality PC grow box for maximum yield micro-grows. I have decided on a PC grow box because I don’t have enough room for a tent. I think I’ve got the design pretty much figured out, just looking for things I might not see to improve.

I have a Cooler Master C700P case and I was thinking about getting three of 24w LED lights. I’m getting some activated carbon filter material to place between the 3 case fans and the exterior to deodorize the air before it’s blown out of the case. Also need a light timer.

In addition, what would be the best pruning methods for this size of grow? I’ll have two plants . . . Or one, depending on what info I get. I’m planning on fimming.

P.S. - I’m going to be growing ghost train haze regular seeds

  2. Good info, thanks. I think I’ll stick to the case I have instead of a bucket, it’s a pretty large case. What do you think about the products I’ve listed? Will 4 LED lamps at 24 w be enough? Also, I’m planning on placing 2 LEDs at the top an 1 on each corner for some extra light to the sides of the plant, will that be good?

  3. Thats cool. Even if you dont use a bucket. That website has a forum area where everyone gets together to discuss the best way to create a micro grow like what type of lights are best and strains and such. If you're looking for a good light, Id want to know its par first. Those 20w lights will work but to get any type of par out of those, you'll need to stick them within a half inch of the plant. If you're looking for those type of lights, something like this may be more up your ally.

They put out a ton of light without putting out a ton of heat. They use samsung LED's and have a pretty good spectrum if you look for the 4000k ones. Best part is you can put them directly in the middle of your plant if you need to since its 360 degree light.

Really, its up to you. You can grow those little bastards in pretty much anything. The real question is what type of quality do you want? If you're lining your grow with reflective material, i'd definitely look at the samsungs tho

  4. Really? They’re 24w grow bulbs, that’s 100w in a case, I thought they would work well, what is PAR exactly?

  5. What is Photosynthetically Active Radiation?

Thats the best place to learn about it.

Photosynthetically Active Radiation is needed for photosynthesis and plant growth. Higher PAR promotes plant growth, and monitoring monitoring PAR is important to ensure plants are receiving adequate light for this process.

You can measure it with a par meter but they are pretty expensive so usually, you'll look for whats called a ppfd or photosynthetic photon flux density chart. This will show you at what distance gets you what par. MJ does really well around 800-1000 par. Higher if you're able to add Co2. The light I showed you that is rated for 200w puts out 800-1000 par at 6-8 inches. I know this because I have one and measured it. It wont be possible to get that out of the 24w bulb or even the bulb I linked later (the samsung one).

You dont really need to get crazy for a micro grow though. I'd just stick with something that gives the most light with the least amount of heat. Those samsungs would do that a little better than the lil 24w ones and save you space since you can put them pretty much inside the plant without hurting them from stress.

If you DO want to max out your par and get some crazy grows going, then I'd suggest samsung strips. Those are harder to find though and you might have luck asking those guys in the grow bucket website. They do that micro stuff way more than I do .
