Qb132 or Qb288?

  1. I have a 4x2x5 tent for flowering and since my Mars died I am stuck on either the QB132's or the QB288's for flowering. HLG really sold me on the QB65. It beats out my old LED for vegging and since I finally got my man cave done, I can have dedicated tents so the 65 will be in my 2x2. Hardest decision isnt price, but which lights I want to use for flower. This is all for personal use but typical flower 4 to 6 plants at a time and they both will work with my space. Im stuck on the Qb132 4 pack from HLG or a this qb288 kit. Horticulture Lighting Group 260 Watt XL Quantum Board LED Kit V2. Any suggestions?

  2. Four qb132’S will be around 300 watts. This qb260 is only 260

  3. 2 qb96s would fit that 2x4 really nice.

  4. I thought about that also and the only reason I am considering the kit is for ease of only having a single delivery vs several. Does HLG ship discreetly?
Thought about the 96s hlg has but saw diff reviews for flowering space coverage.

  5. They flower 2x4 perfectly fine and they leave you with much more head room in your tent. And they’ve been the easiest build I’ve done by far.

  6. I just ran into this thread, The Most Legendary, Epic, and Exalted...etc, etc, etc: Hlg 288 vs 96 Smackdown Grow ;), holy shiet it was what I was looking for. After about 50 pages I read thru I think the 96 will suit me and for the cost I can grab three and come out of pocket about the same as the kit assembled (I was being really, really lazy if you cant tell yet) l. I really wanted a 3500k spectrum more than anything else and those are hard to grab when available from HLG. I missed them every time Hlg had them for the 132's.

  7. The 96’s are the best thing out there at the moment. I’m only running the two off an HLG-320H-54a driver. You can go higher though

  8. I just bought my 1st Qb96 and I am going to add another shortly.
Any way you go you really can't go wrong with any QB but I was looking at ones on ali with the red diodes so these just made sense. The light is only 99 and that includes the heatsink. It's a pretty good value.

Goodluck whichever way you decide to go.

    Peace

  9. Qb132 due to 5’ tent.

  10. 5’ head room.

  11. The 96’s will work as long as he doesn’t go over 3-3.5’.

If pot height is an issue which it has been for me a company called geo pots makes shorter wider pots called squat pots.

I’d still go with the 96’s. But that’s just me. If he’s wanting bigger than 3’ plants I’d go with the 132’s or 288’s.

  12. I thought about that also but from my own experience I try not to push limits so my usual max veg height is around 1.5 feet. For the most part I try to stay under 4 feet for my plants after stretch and ive learned my lesson about not training to keep everything contained.

Thx. I'm using 3 gal fabric pots now but they stand at least 3 inches higher. Thanks for the tip. I will be buying a few from them since it really would help regardless of lights in tent.

  13. I want do thank everyone for the input. I ended up buying the 120v2s in 3k. I was going to get the 132v2s but hlg was sold out (again) and I needed to get my babies in flowering. Yes, it was the headroom comment that really made me think hard before I hit purchase on the 96s. I must say, I'm super satisfied with this purchase. My girls have been in flower for a full week today and have given me a max of 3" stretch so far. I was expecting more stretch from previous experience but these showed me how underpowered blurple lights are, especially after taking apart a well known blurple 300w light and learning it only had 2 60w drivers in it but was rated at 120 actual watts, which kilowatt also proved it didnt touch 120w either. Heat is barely existent at 200 watts and that seems to be the sweet spot for this grow. My plants did show signs of issues earlier which you can see from some of the dying leaves but I had to alter my feeding schedule as they are drinking like crazy and I didnt check on them for a couple days to find the plant on the left super thirsty. I went from feeding every 4 days to every other day. I use general organics nutes with miracle grow organic soil which I add perlite to. My 65 has been moved to my 2x2x4 tent. Wish I would've done this sooner. The build was easy as ever and I made this frame in about 30 minutes while fighting a sinus infection. I might do some adjustments in the future but for now it aint broke and I'm not fixing it lol. That is until I get a larger tent when I buy another home.
