  4. It's the intensity of output. It burns up the nutrients. I can also make all my plants purple towards the end with qb's if I cut nitrogen especially.

The plants need for cal/mag in particular almost doubles under qb lighting compared to other inferior leds I've used.

Purpling if it's not caused by genetics is essentially a sign of deficiency. It's not a bad thing really though if timed right. If you let a plant get as big as it's going to before it goes a little purple the purpling will reduce the amount of chlorophyll in the finished product making it easier to cure and overall tastier.

    Autumn Color Effect
By removing nitrogen from plants during mid to late flowering it is possible to mimic the fall changes that would occur in wild cannabis growing outdoors. Called the Autumn Color Effect or A.C.E, this technique forces the plant to use its own stored nutrients to finish flowering, as it would in nature, and decreases chlorophyll levels. The end result is higher quality buds. If done properly, yields will not suffer in the least.

  5. I'm digging it man. Nice chunky plant ya got there!

  6. Well that was a little nugget of gold!

I experienced the need for the extra cal mag 100% with my first 2 Lowryders. The 3rd plant took way longer to grow, so it got the calmag it needed before it showed deficiencies.

Plant in the back is the plant that got cal mag in time.

This is that same plant today

Threw a double main cola on me too! Never seen that b4. That’s what I’m calling it anyways. I have TWO dominant main tops, the stalk of that branch that turned into that is as thick as the bottom of my stalk. No joke.

Best shot I could get of it. But both main colas look equally fat

It’s the 2 larger ones lol

  7. Soooo. All this extra shit u guys talk about out if the main nutes like ff trio is over my head lol. Growing with QB will I need any other nutes besides ff trio.

  8. Probably a cal/mag supplement.

    My recommendations.

#1 Nectar for the gods Demeter's Destiny liquid calcium. (Keep it in the refrigerator between doses if you want it to not spoil in a few months. It is milk based.)
    #2 Gh Calimagic
    #3 Botanicare cal/mag plus

  10. longer post...
    TLDR:
-The increase in secondary metabolites (ie anthocyanin) is responsible for pigments
-It saves you money learning about hydroponic fertilizers.

Although true, this doesn't explain the entire story. An increase in secondary metabolite production is noted during color change caused by genetics, cooler temps, UV radiation, drier climates, insect attack (wounding), and by (other) chemical elicitors. its true that the yellowing of the leaves is caused by a loss of chlorophyll, but the pigments that (sometimes) remain are known as anthocyanins, and are secondary metabolites, along with flavonoids and phytocannbinoids (like THC). I don't believe its related to a deficiency (other than maybe potassium ? idk).

u just haven't leaned it yet. Tbone is right, you probably will need additional calcium and magnesium. You can just mix your own up you know... just add calcium nitrate, which would add some nitrogen to the nutrient solution (this is why most calcium/magnesium solution are 2-0-0).

    @Tbone Shuffle,
I was looking over the Nectar of the Gods Demeter's Destiny, which is made up of calcium phosphate instead of calcium nitrate. Few points:
-its ~$25 for a premix gallon, whereas you can get a pound of calcium phosphate for the same price.
-its an organic product that eliminates the use of synthetics
    -fridge space required (?)
-I found their product description deceptive:
Demeter's Destiny is more useful than any synthetically derived cal/mag. Synthetic calcium and/or magnesium products are not desirable because they are also applying nitrogen to your crop in the form of calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate.
My plants always wants a touch of nitrogen (except 'in the fall') and synthetic calcium phosphate can already be obtained (as I already pointed out above). Also epsom salts are magnesium sulfate, not magnesium nitrate.
Maybe the other stuff they write is true, idk.

I found an old link some may appreaciate, its called Make Your Own Hydroponic Nutrients, great article!

  11. Thx for sharing that! I plan on reading thru it today, after I get life figured out lol.

I always wondered if this was easy stuff to mix up and were just paying for the ease of use

  12. Wtf is the difference between flowering and fruiting stage/nutrient?!? The growing of buds(flowering) and ripening/finishing(fruiting)? 13. Read thru that tho. TO MUCH DAMN WORK. To much testing, checking, documenting, and waiting lmao. Aside from trimming that’d be the most time consuming part unless u could do many gals at a time to store for later use

  14. I personally HATE ph’ing my water, so I can imagine the stuff above would be very tiresome

  15. Have a PH meter. Nvr have used just bc the extra time needed. I just buy store bought water that’s supposta have the right ph. No clue what my nutes change it to tho

  16. A lot of soil growers don’t ph water because the soil will generally buffer your PH to a more neutral PH.

  17. Go to know lol. I don’t bc I’m lazyish lol

  18. It’s a debated topic so i ph just in case. However I’m my first two grows I didn’t Ph and had no issues.

  19. Try megacrop one nute from start to finish(free sample at greenleaf nutrients.com). Cuts 75% of time down, just started using it on 1 pant and she is loving it. Was using nectar of the gods but mixing everything up is a pain.
