QB Lighting for a 4x4

  1. Red is more important for overall growth and 3500k has more. Many are currently vegging very well with the qb96 which is also 3500k. Two of my own veg lights are 3500k. High K more blue is used as a stretch limiter and you have larger tents with plenty of headroom.

I would buy 4k for veg first choice but if they only had 3500k and I wanted to get setup I wouldn't hesitate. It don't know which is better for veg. I've ran both.

You don't need 6 qb120's to veg a 4x4. 4 is actually a little overkill sometimes. I think you'd be surprised what kind of intensity you can get out of only 4. I'm ran as low as two in my 4x4 and vegged a crop. I'll often unplug one and run 3. I only run 4 when the plants are mature.

  2. I was talking about 6 QB96's not the Qb120's

  3. You can do very well with 4. More power then 4 qb288's. Not quite as good of coverage but more ideal spectrum.

  4. The 1.0's you see on the chart are 1000ppfd. That is at 18".

  5. Even that setup with 4 QB96's with 4 HLG-240h-54a's and accessories would be in the $750's. I'm thinking $500 is gonna be my budget for this round. Is there anything from HLG that can get remotely close and keep me under that $500 budget?

  6. Diy with qb120s. 8 on a hlg 480h would be under 500.

  7. I would use 2 320h 54a. Not 4 240h. About 170 for the 320s

  8. Now this is something that I would be interested in. In 4000k of course
I'd assume that without 4 240h's, you wouldn't get close to the par readings that he got with them.

  9. I mentioned earlier when I posted the par readings that the 320s would put you right in between 160 and 200 on his charts. If you look at the charts that's really all the power you need you don't need a thousand watts of LED in a 4 by 4

  10. Sometimes depending on what they're powering those drivers can push considerably past the rated output. I have seen a meter on a 320h driver on 2 qb96 and the driver puts out a little over 350 watts. 175 each board.

  11. That would still put me almost a few hundred over my $500 budget. I still need to get another few hundred worth of equipment beyond the lights.

  12. Not available right now but 4 qb132's in series on a meanwell HLG-320h-c2100a is around $225 after hangers and wire. That might fit in your budget. Email HLG and ask when more 3500k qb132 v2's are coming around. It could be not that long. 8 of them would give you more power for flower but still be under $500.

Would be preferred to an 8 board qb120 for flower.

  13. After some consideration.. I'm now open to getting a 3500k for a vegging light or another 3000k setup but only if it has the 660nm reds.

  14. If I were in your shoes I would pull the trigger on 8 qb120 v2 boards in 3500k and an HLG-480h-c2100a.They're great for veg and bloom and easy to sell later to other grow friends. I just sold the first two I built for $100 cash and I used them for 18 months. You can start off running the 8 qb120 v2's in bloom and later on you can add two qb96's to the middle, spread the 120's apart and dim them. It would end up quite similar to my bloom setup.

    I'm running 4 304's and 2 96's. Right side is 3500k 304's. Left side is 3k 304's. 96's in the middle. 96's running full power 304's running about 50% dimmed.

  15. There are currently no QB120 V2's in stock.

  16. Damn. You slept on it. They were in stock yesterday. .. hehe. They're like that. When you see them in you sort of have to jump on them. Been like that for a few years now but they always come back when you don't expect it and usually fairly quick.

  17. Did you look before you posted that? In stock in 3k and 3500k 4 packs v2. Get two 4 packs.
    QB120 V2 Quantum Boards

  18. I guess I took the wrong path.. I did QB Project/QB 120

Before I pull the trigger.. is there any proof that HLG are getting their boards direct from Samsung?
