QB driver mounting

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by LoneGardener, Mar 8, 2019.

  1. I am hoping to move the driver outside my grow room to help with temps.

    My question is:

Using the 18ga solid core, 300v wire on my 320w 288 v2 light.

How far away can the driver be from the light?

If my driver is outside the grow room, how long is the max length my connecting wires could run?

    Hope that makes sense.

    TIA

  3. nice! no voltage loss or issues at 10' I assume?

that would make my life that much easier. I figured I was going to have to keep it short and mount the stupid thing on the roof of my room right above the lights.

    cheers!

  5. No voltage loss that I can tell. 234 watts per light, 3 lights in there for 700 available watts. I run them around 600 most of the cycle

  9. I too would like to mount my drivers outside of the tent. Is there any tutorial on how to do this and is there a specific solid core wire to use or will any work?

  10. i found 18ga solid core 300v wire at my local hardware store, same type that came with my kit. should be just fine

I did read on another thread about running a third lead from the frame of the light to the casing of the driver in order to ground the fixture. when mounting the driver on the fixture that does the trick but when its mounted elsewhere that should be addressed.

long story short, get 3 wires, not just 2

sorry, no tutorial i know of, maybe someone else can point one out, i'm kinda winging it here myself!

    cheers
