O.K. So I have 2" cubes and planted them into 6" grow baskets full of hydroton rocks. They are now in their final homes where they will live for their entire life. They are just babies at 2 inches and single blade leaf sets barely beginning 3 blade sets. 400w MH. Previously I was watering by hand with very diluted superthrive and ph balanced water. I want to start flooding the table in about 3 days, where light nutes will be introduced. I am probably going to start by flooding 3 times a day with half to quarter strength hydro 3 part nutrients. Part A, Part B, and superthrive combined to create a complete food diet for the plants. Also I lowered my light again and its now 18" above the plants with temps of 82 degrees around the leaves. This is my first attempt at using the flood and drain table. I am wondering if anyone can share some advice or comments what you think about my setup.
Pictures? Flood and Drain Tables Rock!! IMO one of the least care free hydro systems you can have. Just set the pump to a timer for three times a day, change your liquids once a week, check your ph and levels twice a day. A Tip for you would be, water evaporates before nutrients, so adding freshly mixed water + nutrients may create a nutrient overdose. Just add water and watch plants, and wait to remix until your next changout
I do the same thing. My pots are 6" net pots that are on a flood table waiting for the flowering room where they go into dwc. Just a couple of comments. When you first start them out, make sure the water level goes high enough to actually get the nutes into the rockwool cube. I have also tried various flooding times, and I think you would be better off watering more often. You see once the roots travel down thru the rocks, they are prone to drying out quite fast, and this is something you don't want. I flood my table every 75 minutes. keylime
