Well since work is so hard to find I have decided to start applying for slaughterhouses and see what comes up. Figured it shouldnt be too hard to get a job in that field. Slice and bleed em out...
Good luck man, I bet it would be awesome to get high and grab a samurai swords and ninja slice em haha
Interesting! I used to raise, butcher and process my own hogs (chickens too) "in an earlier life." One time I took 6 of my hogs to a slaughterhouse (too many to butcher at home), and it was a chilling experience to say the least. Doing it at home is a serious, sober business. You don't want a wounded hog running around for a whole lotta reasons. The best meat is when the animal is calm when killed and bleeds out quickly. A commercial slaughterhouse is a production line, including the killing and bleeding. If you've never seen it (or heard it), it is pretty unnerving. The thing is, apparently the people who work there get used to it. But I think it would be a good experience for anyone that feels up to it. For one thing, you will sure as hell learn where meat comes from. Most Americans are so spoiled and insulated from reality that they have no clue what it takes to get that prime rib from the pasture to their gluttonous mouth.
My buddy is an engineer who works on machines in slaughterhouses and he says it is fucking disgusting.. He told me there is a machine that they empty all of the 'bad' stuff into including entrails and feces.. This machine then proceeds to stir around this stew of awesome for several hours for no apparent reason... Well have fun man and good luck, its not a job that most sensitive people could handle... Hope you are accustomed to gore and death lol
"Now let's take a peek at the killing floor. Don't let the name throw you, Jimmy. It's not really a floor, it's more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice through so it can be collected and exported."
Well the one I applied for does beef and the other one I put in for does horses. Figured what the hell, I eat meat and so does pretty much everyone else so why not see where it comes from...Ive read a few articles and watched a few videos and doesnt seem all that crazy. Basically its what we would have to do to survive but just in a more sophisticated manner.
At least it isnt this...[ame=http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=701_1348709939]LiveLeak.com - Short documentary about the Chinese dog slaughtering industry[/ame]
Pretty much the same fundamentals.. Methodical slaughter of defenseless animals for a higher ideal and monetary gain. We humans truly are sick fucks
You got it. I wanted to learn it mostly as a survival/self-sufficient skill, and I'm glad I did. I was very careful, always had my head screwed on straight that morning, and never had any slip-ups. It's a lot harder and more complicated doing it at home. Two women I was fucking back then (not at the same time) were excited helpers. They were surprisingly open about the whole process. Of course, once the animal is down and bleeding you can relax for a few minutes; the nervy part is over. I don't remember if they actually watched me do that or not.
You may question your feelings after going through all of this lol.. Good luck man, this shit isn't for the feint of heart
But we are omnivorous and require animal products in our diets for optimal health. Anything beyond that is crime.
I heard that you can hear the cows crying out because they can smell the death and know they're about to die.
Wouldnt doubt it man.. Most animals can sense danger, and when you can hear machines whirring, smell blood and such, well you probably know you're about to get cut into pieces lol
Heh. The first time I raised hogs was to have a hog roast at my wedding. I didn't know anything about this shit then, so my neighbor did the butchering. I helped, of course. Two days later I'm shitfaced out of my mind, been married for an hour, and sucking down that pork like it was the last meat on earth. But the next time I did everything myself, and it was not so easy to eat. Especially just the next day, but I did it anyway. And whenever I roasted a whole hog I never left the head on. It would have bothered me, and some guests too I'm sure. But you DO get used to this stuff after some years. But if you need some help, alcohol and drugs are great crutches for this kind of thing.
i have a few friends whom are morticians and they claim that their work takes away a "certain human emotion." for example, they never are saddened by a death, nor are sad at any funeral. my friend had a really close relationship with his grandfather. unfortunately when his grandfather passed, he didn't even wince at his funeral. he just went on about his normal self and stated to never have mourned. i'de imagine working in a slaughterhouse would do the same thing to you. i guess it can be a gift or a curse depending on how you look at it. anywho, good luck.
This is all true, IMO. Butchering at home is better because the animal has no idea what's coming. Their normal routine is not disrupted, it's just a normal morning to them. As I said earlier, the best meat comes from a rested, calm animal. But taking them to a SH is a different matter. Right from the beginning their routine is disrupted by loading them onto a truck/trailer. Then they travel. None of this is normal for them of course, so like anything else they are nervous and jerky. And when they get to the SH, they may not really know what's going on to the level that we would know, but yes, I'm quite sure they can "smell death," and they know something not good is going to happen. When they're unloaded they are nervous as fuck, bigger animals can get out of control, and semi-wild animals like a 2,500 pound bison bull can rip a place apart.
