purplish stems, problem or not?

  1. So I've done a lot of reading and am sure that purple stripes up main stems and purple fan leaf stems is because of nutrient deficiency.
A buddy of mine says that that's not true and some plants just are supposed to grow that way.
Are there strains that have purplish stems naturally?

  2. i dont think its possible to recieve a 100% yes or no with this question.
Certain deficiencies show, but are not limited to, purple stems/stripes/the existence of purple. However, purple stems alone are not a way to diagnose a deficiency as they are usually a side-effect of a problem and not the problem itself, and are also possible because of genetics.
ive seen plants with mad purple stems with no problems whatsoever, and ive also seen the opposite.
