I've been following @Clearsky and @Flannigan's grow journals and they inspired me to start my own grow journal. I'll be growing 5 RQS Purplematic CBD Autos........this is my first time growing autos and first time growing CBD. I'm also growing 2 freebies from RQS.........Zkittlz Fems. 70/30 Coco/Perlite mix. GH Flora Series Armor Si Cal-Mag Using R/O water 2 gallon pots I'll be following the feeding chart on Coco For Cannabis to the letter.......without the additives. I sowed the seeds in Rapid Rooters and placed them in solo cups with the coco/perlite mix so the tap root can grow into the medium without undue handling. I prepared the coco by running a mild nute solution through it several times before planting the rapid rooters. As is pretty typical for me, 5 of the 7 sprouted within 3 days, and the other two might be out by the end of the day. They are currently under a small 2' T-5 fixture for light and heat. I'll put them under my larger 4' T-5 8 bulb in about a week.
They are certainly something........I grow a few on the side just to supplement my photo harvests and for experimentation purposes. What I have found is: top them, top them when they reach 6 nodes OR when preflower pistils first appear. I currently have a cbd purple (white label strain, experimental), and a purple punch auto. The purple is pretty and smells very strongly of fuel oil, but isn't going to yeild shit. The purple punch looks like it has 5 weeks left and is looking promising. Autos are a crapshoot, but they keep you on your toes. I look forward to following this one. Peace.
It all comes down to your skill, I bet he does very well with his first auto run, I got one growing right now and I wouldn't be afraid to say I will get 12 o/z from it.
I'm sure he will do just wonderful. I just can't stand the unpredictability of autos. I grow a few because I have the space in the veg tent to do so. If I had the setup I really want, I would not ever grow autos. To each their own.
It's been 8 days from sprout for 5 of them and a week for the other two. The 2 Zkittlz are growing much better than the 5 Purplematics. They just don't look as alert as the Zkittlz, and one of them is not doing good at all.........it hasn't grown very much and is very droopy. I don't give it much hope. Just based on the first week of growth, I'm not impressed with the autos.......hopefully they'll straighten out. I'm feeding once a day to run off and I placed them under my 4' T5 fixture a few days ago.
The girls grow up so fast in coco. This is 2 weeks from sprout and they're doing fantastic so far. I plan on transplanting to 2.6 gallon pots tomorrow. I'm currently soaking my coco in a calmag solution to charge it. I had some bagged coco left over from last year, the balance is with Canna brick. Even though it's buffered, I prefer to do it myself. I rinse it first then let it soak in a calmag solution with 8 ml per gallon of tap water overnight. Tomorrow I'll mix it with perlite and prepare my pots.
Looking real nice, only going to get better by next week, will probably be over twice the size they are now or bigger. Nice start
I usually top at day 19 if I have the 5th node to cut out, then I got 8 main branches and sometimes I will take the bottom node off and have 6 main branches. But that's up to you, this time I left my bottom node on the plant and just removed the fan leaf once it started to touch my coco, other than that the bottom branch will grow to be big with the rest of the plant. Things are looking good for you, they look better than what mine was at that age.
After looking at your plants it looks to me that you could top them when you do your transplant. I think I see your 5th node already, by topping and transplanting at the same time pretty much gets rid of all the stress on the plant at the same time. Three days later they should recover and take off and should be some big plants from what I see right now only being 2 weeks old. I went back and looked at my plant at your age and your plants are definitely a couple nodes a head of where mine was. Can't wait to see what you got in day 30 looking very good for first auto run.
Well I mixed up my coco and perlite to prepare for the transplant. I'll run a gallon of nute solution (same mix I've been feeding them) through each pot so the seedlings are in the exact same environment. Shouldn't be any shock whatsoever.
Ok.......got the girls transplanted and switched my T5 from the 4 bulbs in the center to 8 bulbs full........435 watts. It's too bad that T5's aren't more powerful because they grow beautiful plants. I attribute the fast growth to both the coco and the T5 lighting. I'll use this light as long as I can........then switch to my 650w LED I stopped using the Coco For Cannabis feeding chart and started following the label on the bottle........at a lower amount of course. Currently my feeding amounts: 1ml - Armor Si 4ml - Calimagic 2ml - Micro 2ml - Grow 2ml - Bloom Transplant at 15 days from sprout. I also removed the bottom first single blade leaves.
