I'm new to breeding and I have a few questions on crossing strains. I'm an outdoor grower, and at the moment I have a flowering purple male and a couple of bagseed females that I've bred myself over the past two summers. One is Sativa dominant from a forced hermaphrodite, and the other is indica dominant that came from a female pollenated by the same forced hermie. The male plant has some beautiful full purple leaves that I would love to have in a female, but I'm not sure how to pollenate a plant with a male to come out with female seeds. So my question is, If I cross the male with the two strains, how would I be able to create a purple strain? Also, would the seeds just come out male if the genetics were inherited from the purple male? It's just something that I've wondered for a while since I've never had a purple female plant, and since I don't really have the option to order seeds online. It would be awesome if I could start a purple strain of my own. So Please some one help me out!! I'll include some pictures also. The male The two females (and some youngns').
All I want to know is, Would it be worth it to shake the male over my females to see if I come out with some purp seeds? Or would it be better to just breed with the same genetics?
just pollenate 1 female. tie a bag around male kinda thing. research it. but if its a resesive traite, you might not see it unless you breed the F1 generation. lets say the male is bob. the female is kate. so kate and bob have sex, all kids have green leaves. then all of there kids fuck each other, and some of those babies(1/4) will have purp leaves. this applies only if the trait is resesive. if its dominate its the total oppostie from that. to answer your question, if having seedy bud is worth getting purple leaves to you then do it. if it isnt dont.
The purple color of the plant may be caused by low temperatures, not a genetic trait. Low temperatures lock out P and cause purple discoloring. If this is your case, there is no purple gene to breed to the newer plants. I hope you don't think the purple color will make the potency stronger because of the coloring, as this is just not true. If you do pollinate a female just use one branch tip for pollination and leave the rest of the plants unfertilized.
