Purple branches

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by matt69x, Jun 8, 2020.

  1. Hey. So some of the fan leave branches are going purple. Its on 1 or 2 plants only out of 4. I will try and add a picture later on. But it can't be due to temps as I've read because my range night/day is 73-80f so not really cold. Any ideas on what it could be? Leaves are looking fine colour wise, but maybe are looking a bit droopy? They are not thirsty either as I did the lift the pot and finger method check.

Btw they grow in Soil. And are now in the start of 2nd week of flowering.

  2. Could be due to strain, or it’s colder where your plants home is at. Without picture can’t really help. But I can say I grew a nice gsc one time her leaves turned purple

  3. Hmm I posted some pictures. You can't really see it that much on the pics but you should see roughly what I mean. Like kinda purple/brown branches just of the fan leaves. Its warm here and in tent so definitely not because of low temps. IMG_20200608_210513.jpg IMG_20200608_210451.jpg IMG_20200608_210439.jpg IMG_20200608_210347.jpg

  4. I'd say it's genetics most likely. that's not dark/pronounced enough to be a an issue imo.

  5. If you could send me more pictures I think you might have a pest problem I see very small white dots that don’t look like tricomes. But I can’t say for sure about it. In the first picture you have there’s a bunch of them on one of the leaves. But the purple is for sure genetics

  6. I actually woke up to fungus gnats today. Little fuckers flying everywhere. I've seen like 4. Managed to kill two of them.

Any ideas of how to prevent them laying eggs in soil I don't want larvae eating the roots lol. Preferably home made ideas as haven't got the dollar to order things at the moment. Thanks

  7. Yeah I knew I saw pest eggs On your leaves, try getting your area colder if you can and here’s a home remedy I found for you. Hope it works!

Cider-vinegar traps: Simple and effective, cider-vinegar traps consist of a shallow container with a small amount of apple cider vinegar, water, and liquid dish soap.

To make a cider-vinegar trap: Find a shallow container—a tuna can is perfect—and fill it with equal parts water and apple cider vinegar. (The liquid should be at least ¼-inch deep.) Put a few drops of liquid dish soap into the mixture and stir gently. Place the trap near the base of the affected plant or, ideally, inside the pot on top of the soil. Check it every few days to refresh with new vinegar and water.

  8. Thanks I just did that vinegar thing and put it in the tent. I also upped the ventilation a bit to make it harder for them to fly lol. I am wondering the vinegar might help for the adult ones. But anything I can do or add to soil to kill if they layed eggs there or something. I'm adding some new pics below from IMG_20200610_212304.jpg IMG_20200610_212311.jpg IMG_20200610_212322.jpg IMG_20200610_212316.jpg today. 3 are looking okay I guess. But 1 plant is kind of droopy but its been watered 30 hours ago. And it looked fine in the morning. I hope its nothing to do with pests.
