I was on Haight street the other day and noticed almost all of the smoke shops have these bongs with the brand name PURP. According to one vendor they are an offshoot company of some of the creators(or designers, or w/e) from PH(x) and RooR. They are the same style pyrex glass with lots of percs, ash catchers, defuser downstems and what not, with a cooler sand blasted logo and sometimes other shit. Anyway.. does anyone know anything about this brand and if they have a website or not? I've only noticed them in SF so far...Telegraph Ave, Berkely's smoke shops don't have them, and i have yet to check the smoke shops in Sacramento. Has anyone smoked one of these? Are they legit? Good for the money?
i frequent another forum(more glass oriented )and allot of the members there are RooR experts and a few of them even know the people who run RooR.us and i have have never herd mention of Purp so i don't know what were the prices like? And did they have dome percs or tree percs?
to be honest i wasn't sure and i couldn't tell you the price of the glass becaues shops always rip you off and you can never actually tell how much its worth but they weren't marked up higher than PH(x) trinities.. what is the difference.. some had traditional percs that look like the ones in the trinity PHX and some had a perc that i guess is like a tree where the stem goes up and then down, correct? i wish i had more information on them... i guess thats why i'm posting here. anyone close to SF may want to check out Haight and check them out for yourself almost every smoke shop had them.
this could be true.. i'm not sure, maybe i'm blind edit.. a google search for PURE bongs brings me nothing,(likewise for purp) but.. i found some random guy on CC forums who was talking about a PURE bong... however i distinctly remember the vendor talking about it refer to it as purp.. maybe we all just smoke a little too much weed it seems. haha. ugh.. i fucking hate glass vendors they are always so shady, like worse than used cars salesmen
a lot of headshop employees are bullshitters who know nothing about glass. for instance, an employee at Dementia(RooR.us) sold slides to someone claiming they were Tyler bowls, but when he posted them Kenaroo posted saying that he had made them. moral of the story, don't always trust headhshop employees/owners, they usually aren't good for the info.
yeah that would be my guess to and if thats the case pure is not an off shoot of RooR the only off shoot company of RooR is Lux which is an off shoot of RooR.us and as far as i know PH(X) is all by itself so i think the guy was just throwing out common names to try to get you to spend money
well ill be moveing to the hayward area and i might have to check that out since it will be right across the bay............
yea there is a sick smoke shop in livermore called Charlottes Web, livermore is really close to Hayward, basically the other direction on 580, you may want to check it out too
UPDATE Ok i'm not going insane there actually is a brand called PURP. I went to the smoke shop today in Sacramento (outer limits incase anyone wants to know) and they didn't have any of their bongs but they DID have one of their grinders.. i took a pic of it because the logo is the same.. my camera phone is shitty and my photoshop skills are meh.. but the logo is vaguely visible. So then my original question still stands, does anyone have nemore information on them?
whoa crazy ive never heard or seen that logo although PURE bongs are actually pretty good for someone who wants a step down from Roor but thats pretty neat-o
huh i don't have anymore info on it but they are definatly not an offshoot of RooR or PH(X) its sad to say but most of the time you cant trust what the head shop guy says there are a few cases that are different but not many its not always that they are untrustworthy its just if you don't know where to look glass info is kinda hard to come by and RollinFace no offense but Ehle is the best step down from RooR the quality is almost equal to RooR and the prices are much lower

Hey so I live in cary north carolina and got a purp today in raleigh at a place called kitsh off hillsborough street. so far i like it, ~18 inch or so, good thickness on the glass (which has been frosted), ice notches, came with diffuser, ashcatcher, got a case for the ashcatcher/diffuser, and a big case for the bong itself for $300, am very pleased so far, hits verrrrry nice
