So I was driving to work on the usual road when a cop turns and, of course, is driving right behind me for about 5 minutes. I'm going the speed limit and everything, but he still flips on his lights. Turns out that he ran my plates while behind me and my car's registration is expired. Do cops always run the license plates of cars in front of them, or was this one just a fucking pig? P.S. we've sent in my registration to be renewed over two weeks ago. but i guess the dmv didn't even renew it yet...
There is technology that has came out with or is being developed where the cop can scan your plates without even typing it in. Like a barcode reader almost

Cops in my area have plate scanners. It takes a pic and runs the number automatically. They can do 30 plates a minute if I'm not mistaken. That way they can just sit at an intersection and wait for the beep. Then go getem. It will tell the cops if the registered owner has warrants, expired reg. revoked licence, etc... Something to think about when you borrow someones car. As a responsible stoner I just make sure my shit is up to date, so no worries.
